I have lived years without electric power in my youth. Then when I moved to a place that most folk would consider a summer cottage without electricity it didn't take long to get electric lights set up. An ongoing dependency on electric power wherein you have nothing to do without electric power but twiddle your thumbs is a fast track to thinking the end of the world has come. I like going without electrical power for a few days to see where I might prefer to have some alternative way to pump the water to the kitchen sink if need be....or heat the house. I've seen lots of innovative children born into this marvelous age huddled around campfires toasting marshmallows as part of their get-by-until. But I know the joy of electricity's return wipes away their tears. They would rather forget that they ever had been subject to the dark gloom of a matchless night...till dawn's early light.
....and there they are, all confidant and secure in the extreme rarity of their adventure in powerlessness just recently...tapping their computer on and checking the refrigerator for a cold beer.

The fictionalized version on the origin of Aids that I saw was that a commonly recognized, sexually transmitted disease existing for centuries in Africa was weaponized by the CDC during the Bush administration, returned to Africa for further testing and brought to the USA by a male airline steward who was gay to spread the disease.... as a remedy for the growing homosexual uprise in the USA.

I have worked with graphene. It is easy to produce and use. The facts about it are not mythical, just difficult to clearly explain and apply reliably so far. It is a superconductor. Industry has been stalling and slowly bringing out products that use the principals of graphenes applications. It is likely to be a key to obsoleting everything we presently have in electrical applications. Other materials are also in development that can replace nearly every material in present common use.
These advances are natural to becomming independent from our need for our natural origins in everyday life.

From what I have seen, folks on the edge of legality tend to drive with considerable care and are widely known as safe drivers generally. The reason is they do not want to draw a cop by bad driving. Insurance companies insure Vehicles and drivers. A car can be insured and (owned) by a family member & driven by anyone given permission to drive the car. The driver is not identified as the owner in the registration of the vehicle. Of course, If the car is involved in an accident and the driver is not the owner, they may just run-away and tell the owner, who would call it in as stolen to minimize foreseeable loses and penalties.
I'v been regularly tested for drugs several times a year and I don't use any illegal drugs. I think it ticks off some folk to know I'm clean or suspect that I'm cheating. Most of the folk who do the testing seem to judge by appearances even though they are collecting evidence. These same folks get their samples mixed-up occasionally too. When suspicion is obvious, I ask if they would like to hold the cup. No one has taken me up on the offer.
I'm sure there are many people who have been on various street drugs are getting help from the state of California. The courts actually help people stay off illegal drugs and monitor their progress regularly.
