does religon caus war
Answers: 4 Views: 628 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago

The major cause of war is foreigners. They are everywhere. They start just down the street and are found at all points out from there. It ain't just religions that gets people fighting, it is almost any belief that these foreigners have. They are all very strange and whilst I do not mind that too much, nevertheless they try to get me to believe the nonsense they believe and then get mad when I refuse.

Were the Hobbits invented by J.R.R Tolkien?
Answers: 1 Views: 837 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago

Good Lord, no. They were independant but quiet little people who lived in Middle Earth quite a long time ago. They were not great at building or inventing, apart from beer, so they left little evidence behind, but the Glasgow Oochmon Museum has a small collection or beer mugs and a spoon. Tolkien was invented by CS Lewis.

Where has the word "Kibosh" originated from?
Answers: 2 Views: 1467 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago

It seems to be a 19C English expression. I suspect it has something to do with the Khyber Pass, the entrance to Afghanistan from what was India. Soldiers going into the pass were unlikely to come through in one peice. It is clearly a 'slang' word.

is existentialism also social science as well as the study of humanities?
Answers: 1 Views: 403 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago

Existentialism is not a social science but a philosophical 'consideration' from defunct French-led nihilists in the early 20C.  It is not a 'Humanity' either as it specifically derides humanity. By the mid century it's main points had been demolished by Colin Wilson. It has historical value just as studying any dead-end has if it alerts one to avoiding wasting one's time and pursuing leads that go nowhere. See also Marxism, Feminism, Fascism, Trotskyism, Maoism and pretty well every other 'ism' of an anti-human sort.  We exist. Get on with it.

What is a good BMI for a 13 year old girl?
Answers: 1 Views: 457 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago

BMI is not age-related. It is a relationship between weight and height. One supposes that anywhere between 18 and 24 is a reasonable BMI for a 13 year old girl, but her body is likely to be going through quite a few changes which push her below or above in the short term.  Her aim should be to control and manage the fluctuations as best she and her parents may. 18 to 24 gives plenty of healthy scope for different body morphologies.
