I remember that and I am only 70! I saw it on the History channel on Thanksgiving night - a program on the Mayflower. What a marvelous documentary. If any of you ever have an opportunity to see it, it will open your eyes.

I do not fear evil. But, yes, if an evil-looking person or animal was approaching me or chasing me, I would be plenty scared. I just have to say, though, that I have never understood (even as a child) fearing God. I just don't get it. God is perfect, all-abiding, every present, omniscient love. What's to fear???

This is not a true story. It was only a joke that a Nobel Prize winner (1946) told at a banquet held in her honor. The person (Howard Mess) at her table who gave the funniest answer got 58 more points. Mess is now dead and the inheritors of his estate are still fighting over the points.
