I was on a bus this morning and ...........

an old lady entered, she sat down next to me and started to rustle about in her bag, she pulled out a pile of used tickets and added the new one to the pile, when she looked up and saw me gazing at her, she said very calmly " I collect them, have done for years son. " Biting my tongue, I could only blurt out " interesting hobby ".  Has anyone else got such an interesting life ?

My hubbie has every ticket stub from every concert, movie, race, whatever to anything he has ever been to since I don't know when. He keeps them in old, vintage coffee cans.

oh there you are Ducky just sitting on that compliter or what you call it could you just rest a minute and watch natgeo
    slimjimpopo

    quite easy to imagine
    FISH-O

On a bus watching National Geographic? In the case of Ducky and I, that could really happen. It would probably be fun. We live in the world of National Geographic. The windows of the bus, with the sites to see, and stops would be ridiculously interesting.

    slimjimpopo

    so who's driving
    FISH-O

The hired and truly talented bus driver.
    slimjimpopo

that should be me isn't it
    FISH-O

Are you really a talented bus driver? I will not get into a vehicle with someone who is not.

I can't pass up a stray ring tab w/o picking it up and adding to my collection.  I have about 34 alcohol bottles filled with them over 10 years......... Odd collection is interesting.............

    ROMOS

Are there really 34 alchohol bottls worth of different ones on the PLANET?

All the bending over will keep you in shape.
    mycatsmom

what about the alchohol bottles.....Are they collectible too ? Some Vodka companies make beautiful bottles. I used to collect Jim Beam bottles, but my mom made me get rid of them when I lived at home : 0

...and I found myself all alone!  I'll have to go for another ride now, so I can come back here and tell you a story.   Wait for me okay?

My life is far less interesting than the woman you've described.  I don't ride the bus, so am missing out on those random connections.
As far as collections.....not any more.  Now I am trying to get rid of much of the stuff I couldn't live without a few years ago.

I was out doing home visits, I ran across an elderly man, he collected body parts, He had a jar of gall stones, kidney stone, teeth, and Toe nail clippings, ... the worse part, they were all his.

Home Health isn't what it use to be!

Yes met the "wife she introduce me to her Mum .They say when choosing a wife look at her Mum because your wife could like that in forty years time .Her Mum smiled her teeth fell out ,scratch her head her "Wig fell off. When she went to scratch her Anus saying it nice ( arse) her "Hemorrhoids came tumbling down "Oh she cried forgotten my incontinence pants ."Oh I cried there's my "Bus.

You put some brandy in that eggnog, right?
    dowsa

"Winfia" you dont believe "ME" Its the truth!! "HICK"
    mycatsmom

    dowsa, I don't get it
    Bob/PKB

Picture his wife as her mother, with no teeth, no hair, sscratching her bumm and hemorrhoids brsting. Mum is incontinent, too, so add that to the mix. Imaging his wife being just like that down the way, and Dowsa makes a hasty retreat. "Gotta go, my bus is coming".

I collect rocks. Yes, I do. I have small boulders down to pebbles, including beach glass. When we lived in a small condo in California a few years ago, we had to put my rocks in storage because we had no place to put them. Every time we move, we take my rocks with us. Most of the larger ones I can identify as to where I picked them up and when. Like that big yellow one over there ... picked that one up on the north rim of the Grand Canyon on our honeymoon 33 years ago. And, oh ... see that one with the hole in it? Kaanapali Beach, Maui, about 15 years ago. I tried to take this one home, but the hub wouldn't carry it for me.

    Daisy!

That is so cool! I have a small collection myself. Do you have any desert roses? I had one smuggled out of Saudi Arabia years ago. It isn't very pretty. There are several on line that are wonderful, mostly from Germany.
    witchway

I collect rocks too! I have for years. I decorate my garden beds with them. My daughter brought some back with her from Arizona when she was out there recently. Rock On Winfia and Daisy!
    robertgrist

Collecting rocks has been a hobby of mine since I was a child. Other children said collecting rocks was dumb and that rocks are dumb. Rocks are not dumb, I said....holding a rock up, they remember their shape from the time they were made...You can't say that about yourself.

Could I suggest that when the dear old soul had enough tickets she glued them together to make toilet paper?

We have a way in Australia to use only one ticket for this purpose but I wont go into details here.

    ROMOS

We have a way in Scotland of dividing one ticket into four, sometimes six, depending on the severity of the dilemma mate.
    PEOPLELOVER

You must have big tickets in Scotland ROMOS.
We just fold the ticket long ways tear a small triangle out on the fold line, poke finger through hole, wipe, remove debris by sliding ticket firmly from finger, use triangular piece to clean under the finger nail.
    winfia

I collect corn cobs. A little scratchy but they do the job.
    mycatsmom

P L-- are you serious that you're only allowed to use one square of toilet paper at a time ?!
    PEOPLELOVER

Mycatsmom, my refeence was to using a tram/bush ticket as a joke.
We can use more that one sheet, when I was a young bloke we used torn up news paper. I am thinking as I get older maybe I should only buy 1 roll of dunny paper at a time, don`t want to leave rolls around for someone to fight over.
    PEOPLELOVER

Nah Umbriel I think we are a bit more civilised now. Wouldn`t say smarter though.

My son keeps football magazines , all neatly stacked in boxes and in order so that he can look back at anytime.

    mycatsmom

my dad did that with model train magazines.

    I don't collect, I'm a throwaouta.

    fjoel

    not a hoarder. Good deal.

I can't recall ever collecting anything come to think of it. I just realized that I haven't been on a bus in forty years either.

My stepmother used to make and collect dolls, there were so many another house was purchased to put them in, I drove up for a holiday and stayed in the "doll" house, gave me the horrors with all the eyes at night staring back, and had to cover them up with sheets, I stay in a motel now when I visit

I used to collect Souvenir Dolls, but had to give up, lack of space. As teenager, I used to collect stamps.

Did she do you any harm by collecting her tickets?  Then let her be.

    I don't collect anything I won't possibly use.

stamps and empty bottles, used to...

I collect dirt on my shoes, without trying.

    mycatsmom

fjoel, I collect dog poop on my shoes, b/c there are a lot of irrespondsible dog owners around here, and I have to walk across my city easement lawn to put the garbage out by the curb.

Does this count? When I was in my teens I had 112 posters of Andy Gibb on my walls and ceiling.

An odd relaxing pastime of mine is coloring.Yes, coloring in a child's coloring book with crayons.

Not mine this interesting life .

I used to collect bottle caps when I was still little here they are made of metal  I made teams from them sorting different colours as different teams then play with my brother match will end when my brother keeps on winning   I finally stopped when my brother grew out of it and having no one to play with I definitely stopped I am sure I had hundreds of them    really old memories    ( who wants to know how the game is played)
