Actually guys, I thought he was talking about manufacturing plants in the US. In 2004 there were approximately 305,000. i don't know how much that's changed in the past 8 years, but that's a rough idea. It was an odd question though, don't you think?

Do an inventory of everything he gave you with an estimate of the value of each item (a reasonable guess is okay). This will take time and effort, but it sounds like you'll get some good stuff. Give him a copy and keep the original.
Be patient. Asking the question multiple times does NOT help. Have you tried simply turning off the switch in the breaker box? Also, I'd look on top of the tank.
