what is the meaning of this word Concupiscene.
Answers: 3 Views: 2191 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago
Concupiscence: A strong desire (Lat. inchoative of concupere) Considering this definition from my dictionary would a concupiscene  be "one with a strong desire" or the quality of that desire?

What other animals share our number of chromosomes and what are the scientificreasons we are distinguishable?

http://www.ultimateungulate.com/Artiodactyla/Hippotragus_niger.html http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/site/accounts/information/Muntiacus_reevesi.html I found these two animals who share our diploid number of  chromosomes. I'm not a biologist -I wonder why our chromosome numbers match yet we are so physiologically different.

What accomplishments in your life, so far, that you are most proud of ?
Answers: 23 Views: 2124 Rating: 11 Posted: 12 years ago
I saved a girl's life once. I walked passed a house and heard a loud argument between a man and a woman inside. It was very bad but I wasn't sure I should meddle until I saw a shadow against the closed blinds of a man holding an object over his head about to strike. Right away I banged on the door and in a moment she opened it. She was hysterical -crying- said that her ex almost stabbed her; when I knocked he ran out of the back door. I brought her to my house to call the police in case he returned. When we walked inside my pet chicken jumped on her head. She freaked out for a second then laughed -a really good relieving laugh. Everything turned out fine in the end. I consider helping someone stay alive a positive achievement- don't know if its my greatest one but an important one which comes to mind.

Did Pakistan know Osama bin laden was hiding there?
Answers: 9 Views: 2790 Rating: 0 Posted: 13 years ago
There is a lot to think about. Part of me wonders if everyone  involved knew his whereabouts... that maybe he was being hidden away in a "safe house" until he was needed for political reasons.  And I mean by both us and the Pakistanis. On the other hand I  wonder if the Pakistanis knew and kept it secret to keep the war  going and the billions flowing in; but also because if we could no  longer defend keeping troops there Pakistan would be ripped apart  even more quickly than they are now internally by the Taliban (note that retaliatory attacks after Bin Laden's murder have all been  on the Pakistani military)and externally by India Iran and a  politically undefined Afghanistan. This is all spy novel fodder and I doubt we'll learn the whole truth anytime soon but its kind of  fun to let your imagination rip on this one.

NOW THAT THE OBAMA ADMINISTATION HAS KILLED BIN LADEN WOULD YOU VOTE TO RE-ELECT HIM?
Answers: 30 Views: 2361 Rating: 1 Posted: 13 years ago
Killing Bin Laden didn't do much for me. I think something was very fishy about the whole thing... whether on our side or the  Pakistanis or both. I'm not taking a position until I know more  but it doesn't sit right in my mind. I am bothered by comments here which deny Obama involvement. Remember Obama is the Seal's boss and this occurred on his watch. Can we say Truman flew the bomber that ended our war  with Japan? Of course not but he made the decisions  which brought the conflict to a close. As for my vote -Obama  disappointed me in many of his leadership choices. I'd like to see a candidate who  really is about small government and liberty but at the same time understands how to balance regulation and  oversight so greed's more nefarious effects are held at bay. Also I'd like to see more emphasis on ethics rather than religion. Its obvious that a politician can claim deep faith all they want  without exercising Christian behavior. At this point its crying  wolf and makes me instantly cynical when the point is pressed.  None of the Republican options so far deliver what I'm looking for  except perhaps Ron Paul to a degree but he is a long-shot in my  opinion. So the answer is no; Bin Laden's death won't have  any bearing on my visit to the polls. The quality of the candidates will.

which pattern is an example of a measure in 4/4 time?
Answers: 3 Views: 713 Rating: 1 Posted: 13 years ago
4/4 time is also called "common time" and is ubiquitous. Brian is  correct; nearly everything you hear on pop radio is in 4/4. A great deal of classical and jazz is as well but doesn't always seem like it. Basically music that doesn't sound like a waltz is probably  in 4/4 or 2/4. Composers do a lot of wacky things with time  signatures though. An example of 4/4 off the top of my head is  "Sing Sing Sing" by Benny Goodman; you can easily count to four along with it because Gene Krupa is playing the bass drum right on the  quarter notes.

I never drove a car, but have dreams about driving like a pro. answer this
Answers: 3 Views: 587 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago
I'm not certain how this phenomenon works but I had an interesting experience "dream learning". I dreamed about playing a drum set and the next day I absolutely had to have one. A few weeks later  when I bought a set I played like an expert right away without even having a lesson. 25 years on I still play drums(professionally). My opinion on the subject is that you should definitely give it a  try. You may be guided toward driving for some reason; it could be a  passion you didn't know you had or a facet of your psyche begging  to be expressed.

nostradamus : prophet or not?
Answers: 8 Views: 2657 Rating: 3 Posted: 13 years ago
The collection of Nostradamus's prophecies contains an interesting  story. It was intended as a guide for his son- not really for  public consumption. Over and again he affirms that there is nothing supernatural or mystical about his process or its outcome.  Nostadamus saw himself as a scientist using astronomical  information to divine the future. It was tedious mathematical work. During his time astrology was an excepted science (popes even  employed astrologists). It would have insulted him to imply there  was something spiritual or otherworldly about his calculations;  so he was not a prophet nor did he perceive himself as being one.  The practical usefulness of his predictions is debatable and to  modern eyes his craft doesn't seem scientific but for the era  that's exactly what it was: science.
