Good question; it made me take pause and appreciate my blessings.

Great question my friend...we know where we have been, but we don't know where we are going :-)

I survived an abusive upbringing to become a person who cares about others and defends all those who are oppressed. I did not become a criminal like others who grew up in abusive households and blame that for their crimes against man.

WELCOME back Colleen, I really missed you, I'm glad you turned out the way you did after what you've been through. You have a GOOD heart, and that's rare for most people that had been abused in their upbringing. Thank you for sharing that with us. T.U. FOR YOU.

    saving lives
    monkey11

Wow... how have you managed that?
I saved a girl's life once. I walked passed a house and heard a loud
argument between a man and a woman inside. It was very bad but I wasn't
sure I should meddle until I saw a shadow against the closed
blinds of a man holding an object over his head about to strike.
Right away I banged on the door and in a moment she opened it.
    She was hysterical -crying- said that her ex almost stabbed her;
when I knocked he ran out of the back door. I brought her to my
house to call the police in case he returned. When we walked inside
my pet chicken jumped on her head. She freaked out for a second
then laughed -a really good relieving laugh. Everything turned
out fine in the end. I consider helping someone stay alive a
positive achievement- don't know if its my greatest one but an
important one which comes to mind.
    monkey11

Wow! What an amazing experience!! Congratulations! Have you had an further contact to know how she is doing since?
    Longrat

I was in the process of moving at the time so I was
only in the neighborhood for a few more weeks. During
that span there was no sight of him though. She seemed
to be fine. Thank you for asking.

I have worked hard all my working life. Self employed. I look at my hands and know that every cent I have earned from them. Many hard times and wondered where the next job would come from but God always helped me provide for my family. I had a fire in my workshop and lost my machines and a job I had worked 4 months to complete. All ashes. I was able to rebuild and pay back all my debts and carry on. My family kept me going. That was 20 years ago and I am still working. I do feel proud of all this but I know without God I would have givin up.
My first greatest accomplishments has to be giving birth to three wonderful children in 1996,2001,and 2006,my second accomplishment would be hitting obstacles head on when someone said I couldn't do it,and picking myself up every time I've been knocked down.
    Spaceghost

IluvJesus, Thanks for your input, I love your determination. Keep on doing what you're doing and meet your challenges head on, you're a strong person. T.U. FOR YOU.
    IluvJesus

    Thank you Spaceghost.
I'm not really sure what you would say my accomplishments have been. I guess one is that I've been working on overcoming anxiety/mild depression...which caused an emotional break down. But I wouldn't say that was a major accomplishment because I had so many people helping me and it gave me a chance to find out who I am and not who I wanted to be! Um... I do have a pretty good rapport with my family and friends, I think... I don't know! It's tough to answer this kind of question!! It would be better if someone else wrote it for me!!

You wrote it just fine. Kudos to you for overcoming that which was holding you back :)
    monkey11

Thanks, Colleen! It would be better if someone else wrote so that it wouldn't feel like "tooting my own horn"!! But, thanks... sounds like you have had an awful lot to overcome yourself! Congratulations on that!!
    Spaceghost

I'm proud of you monkey11, you've been through a lot and you DESERVE to toot your own horn, but I know you're being modest, Thank you very much for your input.T.U. FOR YOU.
    monkey11

Aw... thanks! I'm still working on it...but it is soooo worth it! I'm feeling soooo much better!!

Coming back from from a breakdown, anxiety, and depression is no small accomplishment. Head up, monkey 11
What I’ve done that I’m happy I did were very good things to do. I am proud of my accomplishments but I won’t take credit for it. I’m pleased that I have had the opportunity to do what I have done. Other people have always taken credit for what I suggested or inspired them to do and they did it. Inspiration is not a bread winner…But that is what I like to be part of. Sometimes an audible hint that is directly understood is what is required to get someone moving on a task that is needed. When I was asked what I would like in return for the idea of a product they had just received I have always said something like “How about the opportunity to buy it at Wal-Mart.”
    monkey11

That is so great that you like to inspire without whining about getting the praise!!
    Spaceghost

Thank you robertgrist, I'm proud of you too my friend, I know deep down that it's hard to see others get credit for your tasks that you did but you are a descent and humble person and you'll get your just reward one day, bless you. T.U. FOR YOU.
    robertgrist

That is an acquired skill…inspiring without the need for praise. You just have to do it to get it. Here it is about giving to get. In like minded ways we are all compensated in Heaven, which is here also. Giving for something other than what you give is a trade relationship. Oats for flour, eggs for sugar. Inspiration is a commodity too. When I inspire others to a task and ask for nothing from them, where is the exchange? I get more inspiration to share with others. I just serve God this way. I have no concern for reward what so ever, I know my back is covered. Its just what I do.
    monkey11

That's really great! And, thanks for all the thumbs up tonight!! Wow!!
    Spaceghost

    You're welcome, anytime my friends.

Had my children. Watched them grow. Have grandchildren and it feels like my future is secure. Had a good job, and I'm letting it go...

    Now...

I'm establishing my business and namesake, and after 10 years, finally making attempts to get it off the ground. Was leery about it because I had my business name set up and the attorney stole it from me 3 weeks after I had talked to him about a LLC. But, I'm almost there. Just don't like lawyers!

    1.  I had a major impact on a kid's life when he was in 6th grade, getting in alot of trouble. After being the chaperone for the group he was in for a week at Yosemite, he earned the "Citizen of the Month" award in his class and never got in trouble again (he's 24 now).  The thank you note he wrote after the trip (assignment for all the kids to their chaperones) told me how proud and surprised his parents were at his changed behavior.  Two years later, he wrote another thank you note (another class assignment) telling me that he still remembered how I had helped him get through Yosemite and he was still doing well.  He even wrote in his introductory letter to the teacher of that class that I was the one who had "turned him around".   :D

    2.  I have learned to let go of anger. I can say "I'm sorry" and be sincere in those words.

    3.  I have the reputation of being a kind and compassionate woman.

Bob, that is such a wonderful thing that you did for that young man. He'll always remember and cherish you for turning him around. That's a very good thing to be able to say " I'm sorry", less stress and you'll just feel better. That is a GOOD reputation of being a kind and compassionate woman, you certainly have my respect. Bob I wish I could give you multiple Thumbs Up for your answer, WELL DONE.XOXOXO.
