What are the smells that remind you most of your childhood?
Answers: 31 Views: 2917 Rating: 21 Posted: 12 years ago

You know that of all the five senses, smell immediately evokes the strongest and most primal or basic of memories.  For me, pine.  Christmas tree, freshly cut in the house. And being sent out to the cold woods with my younger sister and older brother to cut boughs of pine from live trees to adorn the entire entryway to our front porch and main doorway to the house. Wonderful scent and the magical feeling that was closely associated with that!   Also, the smell of my mother's perfume as she got ready to go out for the evening with my father, which happened infrequently,  and we kids were left at home.  Excited and loved it because it meant a time we weren't under the ever watchful eye of an adult.  Freedom!!!  And one very unpleasant memory I remember to this day, 40 yrs later.  Dinnertime, with pork chops frying in the pan and being served with applesause and the interior of the house was being repainted and the combination of the two very strong smells and adding the taste of the food with the oil-based paint smell in the house made me so sick.  But I was forced to eat my meal anyway.  Tough love?  Never forgot that very unpleasant experience.  One other; the faint  to strong smell of the ocean in my nostrils as a kid as we approached it from inland to spend a week camped beside the roaring Atlantic Ocean.  As kids we enjoyed it to the max and the smell of the salty ocean itself, fresh seafood being cooked over fires right on the beach , and the smell of suntan lotion,....all mingled together,.....uuuummmmm..

what is the name of your cat
Answers: 21 Views: 1374 Rating: 6 Posted: 12 years ago

No cats at present.  May be moving.   My lifetime faves from #1 on down are  Roxie (soul connection from the start, beautiful black and white, lively,  last cat I had),  Oscar (an abused Russian Blue whose tail had been broken at the base and never moved on it's own, yet an excellent mouser.  When we moved to North Carolina from Florida with him, on the third day in our new residence he promptly disappeared.. Put up ads, radio station ads, checked pound regularly.  :-(    6 wks later we get a call from a lady 25 mi away. Aside from the trek he HAD to cross 2 major interstates to get to where he was eventually found.  Skinny Oscar was eating breadcrumbs she threw out for the birds in her backyard. He let her capture him, called the Fla Humane Sciety from the # on his collar, who forwarded her to us in N.C.!!   And do you know, that cat was headed exactly due South, towards Florida, where he was born and raised!  We got him back with our family where he stayed until his passing many years later.),  Tigger ( huge male gray tabby, so sweet and lived to be 18 yrs),  Satin ( Super-shiny, pitch black velvety coat w/green eyes, gorgeous and very intelligent, but not affectionate with anyone but me. We lived on a busy road with her. One night she never showed for dinner and for two weeks thereafter I looked and put up ads for her. One night I got a call from a woman 4 streets over saying she had an elusive, stray  black cat she was feeding, and could it be mine. I went to her hse with a cat carrier and managed to trap the cat with food bait, still not knowing if it was mine as it now dark outside and the cat was black, to boot. Took her home, in the house she acted a little strangely, but went right to the spot where I used to keep her water and food, and then shortly after settled  onto my lap as always in the past. It WAS Satin! I was super-delighted!!  How often does this happen with a lost pet?  My then fiance came home from work that night, saw the cat on my lap and his jaw hit the floor, eyes super wide.  I said "look, Satin is home!!" and he said "that can't be Satin!"  and I said "why not??"  and then he told me he came home from work two weeks prior to find Satin lying lifeless on the side of the road in front of our house, having been hit by a car he thought.  Thinking she was dead he put her in a box and hid her under the Arbor Vitae trees, planning to bury her the next day, but when he went to bury her she was gone from the box.  He never told me because he thought I would deal with a missing cat better than a dead cat.  Boy, did I set him straight!!  Vet said she had some brain damage from the hit and was probably why she couldn't find her way home. She always was different after that incident, but  another good ending. ),  Sweet Pea (My young daughter named her.  She just boldly entered our living room one evening with our doors having been opened to enjoy the night air and she never left, a little bit skittish female, gray tabby).  <3 my cats......... :-  >

What do you do to take care of your body?
Answers: 18 Views: 1167 Rating: 7 Posted: 12 years ago

Don't drink  soda pop. Try to steer clear of sugar, which I do fairly successfully.   Always have a generous portion of a vegetable or fruit with every meal.  Have a little protein with each meal, and I mean a little (2-6 ozs.),   to balance blood sugar and for sustaining energy.   Eggs, peanut butter,  chicken, seafood, mainly,   for the protein.   Downfall:  I LOVE real butter, and I use it regularly.   Even with heart disease in my family on both sides.   :-(  Exercise by power-walking, best for me in so many ways,  but am not consitent at the moment!)  Feelin' the need.............

If you know about  seven times, I guarantee there were more that weren't  exposed,  or known to you  about.   He's serial.   And it won't stop unless he's  castrated,  and then what good is he to you?!   Realize a new life with your dreams and ambitions and start anew!!  Rally your your allies,  friends and family!!  Think about it,  what could you have in your new life?  Freedom to be yourself without him having to be the ugly focal point.  Free to be/do what what you want.  Lead your life.    Best!

Sounds very much as if you are much intuned  and well-educated about your "pup".  Good deal.  Happy for you and your dog!!  He or she seems to be very fortunate to be involved with you.  Hope for a dogs lifetime of all the best!

what is pinkslaim means?
Answers: 1 Views: 573 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago

My initial understanding is that "pink slime" mixed in with ground beef is a concoction of other bodily parts, ground and mixed into the ground beef as a "filler" if you will.  Once again, all about money and nothing else!   Supposedly is in the ground beef given to our kids in school and in some grocery stores.  If I ever had thougts of going beefless or vegan, surely this would put me over the top and I think it has.  Thoughts of it are disgusting,....dog food for people!?! I could be wrong on some fronts, yet still it can't be good, especially with that name.  I've meant to look it up officially for myself but haven't because of problems with our computer/server over several days of late.   Anyone else??
