Why my 4 years old daughter nose bleed when she's asleep all the time?
Answers: 4 Views: 2709 Rating: 1 Posted: 13 years ago
My daughter had this, especially in cold dry climates, and in heated and air conditioned places. It happens when she's laying down because of gravity. Our doctor suggested we try a little Vaseline on a Q-tip, gently applying the Vaseline to the inside of the first one inch of the inside of the nose. We explained the reason to our daughter and with encouragement she used the Q-Tip while we supervised and there was no hassle or fuss. I hope this helps, and that your daughter's nose bleeds stop soon. My daughter outgrew her night-time nose bleeds. I hope yours does too.

is a fasting blood sugar of 64 too low?
Answers: 2 Views: 573 Rating: 0 Posted: 13 years ago
For a non-diabetic person's 12 hour fasting blood sugar to be 64 is not abnormal. But if you are a diabetic then you need to get your answer from a doctor who knows your medical history and has examined you. Make a list of all your medications, and take the list and all other information related to your blood sugar readings, and go to a walk-in clinic where you can get cost effective reliable advice.

What is cardioversion?
Answers: 2 Views: 626 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago
A dangerous heart rhythm can be converted to a normal rhythm by medication as well. The electric shock is only used when medicines do not convert the abnormal rhythm, or when one's life hangs in the balance. In the hospital the patient is most often given a light general anesthetic so they feel no pain from the procedure.

i have a lump under arm started the size of a dime i have hot packed it nowit looks raw hurts real bad and dont know what to do help
Answers: 15 Views: 3197 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago
If you haven't already gone to the hospital for treatment, please don't. Instead go to a walk in clinic where the doctors are perfectly capable of lancing and treating a painful boil. The savings in costs to the taxpayers is tremendous when one uses a walk-in clinic instead of the Emergency Room. For comfort meanwhile use very warm compresses for 15 minutes at a time. This will soften the contents of the boil and provide temporary mild relief. This is only for comfort until you visit the Walk-In Clinic. You have a computer: do a google search for "walk in clinic" in your city. I hope you feel better soon. The sooner you get this drained and taken care of, the quicker your recovery will be, as there's infection within the boil which can move from the boil into the bloodstream, and this makes it a big deal.

tingling in fingers
Answers: 2 Views: 577 Rating: 1 Posted: 12 years ago
Pain, tingling, numbness in hands, if due to poor circulation, would most likely start in the feet first. A common cause of pain and tingling in the hands is carpel tunnel nerve impingement. The nerve running through the "carpel tunnel" is a tight fit, and if it gets inflamed even a little bit, it becomes a tad swollen and then has too tight of a fit, and so the nerve fires off these signals of discomfort. If left untreated for long enough permanent injury to the nerve can occur. The first treatment for this is the most conservative: wrist splints, available at grocery stores and pharmacies for less than 15 dollars each, will keep the wrists straight enough to let the nerve heal, while still allowing you to do most daily functions. Remove the splints for showering and bathing and washing dishes. Wash the splints every week and allow to air dry. If 4 weeks of WEARING the splints AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE does not help, then you need to revisit the doctor. This time go to a different doctor. Meanwhile, a little extra relief can be had from taking 2 Aleve or Advil, IFYOU AREN'T ALLERGIC TO THEM AND IF THEY AREN'T CONTRADICTED WITH YOUR OTHER MEDICINES: CALL A PHARMACIST FOR FREE ADVISE ABOUT THIS. Best of luck to you- I hope you feel better soon.

My son has for years had stomach problems. Cannot eat before 12:00 p.m. What's wrong?
Answers: 1 Views: 566 Rating: 0 Posted: 13 years ago
I'm a nurse, my husband is a physician. If the doctors can't find an organic cause for your son's cramps, the cause is likely inorganic. He does have something going on that's causing this, but it's originating in his mind, as stress. When stress is prolonged, eventually it causes a physical reaction. That's because stress is related to our earliest survival instincts, and stress initiates the flight or fight response, and the accompanying chemical reaction in the body occurs. These stress hormones are this reaction helped us survive in caveman days, or when we need to run OFF the railroad tracks. In today's world, unaddressed stress eventually makes one ill physically. Often the "weakest" part of the body shows it first- I'll bet sensitive stomachs run in your family. In my life, it's my migraines that get worse when I have too much stress that I'm not dealing with. I also think of stress because he's 22 and you are the one looking for an answer. He's obviously been followed by a doctor for years. HIS BODY IS FUNCTIONING FINE, he just gets cramps if he eats before noon. I wake up at 6 AM and can't eat until 10 AM. I consider this just how I am, and I plan accordingly. It's not a big deal. I hope that as a loving Mom you can begin to "let go". Your son is fine, lots of doctors have said so. So he doesn't eat until noon- it'd not a bad thing, it's just how he is. Your son needs to learn to deal with his adult life, including how to handle stress. I think the most loving and supportive action by you would be to arrange therapy for your son so he can learn effective coping skills regarding life, which is always lived on bumpy roads by all of us. The unspoken message given to your son by all your worry is that he isn't OK as he is. That's a harmful message to get from one's Mother. Help your son by slowly releasing him from the grasp of your worry, as it will, and probably already is, adding to his stress. I don't want to hurt your feelings, Mom. I have 2 daughters and I understand Mother Love. I'm just suggesting that you focus on the big picture, which is that he is well and healthy, and will improve once he learns to cope with life, rather than fearing it, as you have unwittingly taught him. I give this advise with benevolent intentions. It's difficult to love our children and let them have their own life, but we must do that. I wish you and your son well. K
