Sorry to hear that. Really sad. I don't know how old your friend is but if he/she didn't have a living will stating that he/she didn't want to be kept alive under those conditions the doctors legally have to keep him/her alive.
If this person is declared brain dead then a parent or spouse can make the decision to remove life support.
Lets hope you friend pulls through and this isn't the course they have to take.
