    friend was in bad car accident, had head trauma and now has a feeding tube.

      the feeding tube is the patient's main source of calories and energy and will need to stay in place until he or she can take enough food my mouth to sustain good health.

        Sorry to hear that. Really sad. I don't know how old your friend is but if he/she didn't have a living will stating that he/she didn't want to be kept alive under those conditions the doctors legally have to keep him/her alive.

        If this person is declared brain dead then a parent or spouse can make the decision to remove life support.

        Lets hope you friend pulls through and this isn't the course they have to take.
