"MRSA" stands for "methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus". This means it's a type of staph that's become resistant to the typical antibiotics that are used. A staph infection like this can arise out of just a tiny scratch in the skin, and it tends to look like an insect bite. When our micro lab sees "spider bite" for the diagnosis of a person who's culture we're looking at, we immediately suspect it's MRSA. It's become very common, and it can be hospital-acquired or community-acquired. Most hospitals now screen patients for MRSA by doing a nasal swab to see if they are carriers of MRSA, and if they are, then they're put in isolation to keep it from spreading to other patients. MRSA is treated with vancomycin or trimethoprim sulfate. It's not hard to get rid of, but it can be life-threatening if it infects someone who's immuno-compromised.

I just saw on TV where a couple is expecting their 20th child! Why would you want 20 kids?

Probably for the same reason my husband and I have 9 cats; we love cats, and they love kids. I say all the more power to a couple who's got that many kids and is doing such a good job of raising them.

Are you talking about diabetes Type 2? If so, this is adult-onset diabetes, and is far from a death sentence. Depending on how severe it is, you may need to start out on insulin shots or pills. But properly managed, you'll be able to avoid complications like heart disease, neuropathy (nerve pain), glaucoma, and non-healing wounds. I know this is going to sound crazy, but Type 2 diabetes can actually be REVERSED with proper diet and excercise. You'll probably have a hard time finding a doctor who will admit this, because doctors count on patients allowing their illnesses to exacerbate themselves. Otherwise, doctors would be out of business! All you need to do is follow a meal plan that's high in fiber and low in fat (choose nutritious foods that you LIKE so it can be a permanent lifestyle and not a temporary "diet"), and find an excercise that you enjoy enough to do at least 4 times a week (mine is weightlifting). These changes will allow your body to overcome the insulin-resistance it's acquired, and the insulin normally produced by your pancreas will stabilize your blood sugar. Soon you'll find yourself feeling great, and your body will be healing itself, with no medications or doctor-intervention required. Good luck!

The tylenol I am talking about has codeine and caffein

What are you taking it for? You need to get to the root of the problem. I had foot surgery 4 months ago (which involved having bone cut away), and was prescribed Vicadin, but I never even needed 1 pill. A lot of peoples' pain is in their mind, and doctors are way over-prescribing painkillers. Try aspirin; it's a painkiller and anti-inflammatory all in one, and doesn't have any side effects. Remember that any medication you take has to go through your liver, and it can be damaged by these toxic substances. I know of someone who destroyed her liver by taking Tylenol, and ended up dying of liver failure. You can gradually wean yourself off these prescribed Tylenols; just figure out how many per day you're taking, and try to take less each subsequent day until you're off of them. Good luck!

Sad commentary that Obama's way of "keeping the country from going all the way under" was to bail out the car makers and banks. All of those billions, plus the billions for mortgage modifications were grabbed up by the fat cats. But that's the Democrats for you. Tax and spend, that'll solve all our problems. And the housing crisis had nothing to do with "deregulation"; that was the Securities and Exchange Commission pruprosely looking the other way when Wall Street was pulling their shenaningans. That had been going on for YEARS before the housing crash. Do some research! And as for the war in Iraq, do you think it's any coincidence that Obama's waiting until just a year before the next election to pull out our troops? I think not. If a "pinched mind" means being able to see a scam artist from a mile away, well then EXCUUUUZZZE me, and my husband, my neighbors, and everybody else I associate with.

Originally, it was so he could become president; now it's so he can be re-lected. Thank you, Oprah Winfrey, for launching this formerly unknown bamboozler into the national spotlight, helping him get elected, and destroying this country!

You need to go through the courts to get legal custody, but since you have the mother's compliance, this will be a much easier process than if she was working against you. Good luck to you!

do you have to remove tulip bulbs in the fall

No, but the problem with leaving them in the ground is that squirrels like to eat them. You can prevent this by covering the area the bulbs are in with wire mesh and a layer of mulch. Also, when your tulips are done blooming, don't cut off the stalks, because they're manufacturing food that will be stored in the bulbs and used for the next year's blooms.

Does anyone have a home remedy or organic product that will help reduce the pain of shingles?

Try taking lysine(1,000 mg., up to 3 times per day). You could also use a rub of aloe vera gel mixed with a little cayenne pepper for immediate relief. To boost your immune system in order to prevent future outbreaks, take 2,000-4,000 mg of vitamin C daily. Make sure no one who's never had checken pox comes into contact with you, because shingles is caused by the chicken pox virus, and the blisters are a source of infection.

Usually, if you have a fly problem, they're being attracted by a food source. This could be any food left out on the kitchen counter, garbage, dog poop in the yard, etc. Remove the food source, and you'll see an immediate decrease in the number of flies.

What do I do to become a member of DirectBuy? I already have a visitors pass but would like more info before making the visit.

Just go ahead and use your visitor's pass to see what it's going to be like. But if they know you're married, you need to come with your spouse. A while back, my husband and I were re-doing our kitchen, and he flat-out refused to use our visitors' passes, mainly because Direct Buy wouldn't tell us the price of a membership over the phone. That sent up major red flags for both of us, and made us realize we wouldn't be getting such a bargain after all! Just realize that until you go through their front door, you won't be getting ANY more information than what you already have.

She SHOULD walk out as a free woman; the state had absolutely no case. No cause of death, no direct evidence. But the sad thing is that a child died, and I think this jury wants to see somebody blamed for it, and they'll convict Casey-unfairly. What happened to reasonable doubt?

Quinine is used to treat malaria (a blood infection transmitted by mosquitos). Quinine can lower blood sugar because it acts as a stimulant to pancreatic islets (these cells secrete insulin and glucagen, which are hormones that lower blood sugar).

Jock Itch Or Yeast Infection
Answers: 3

Posted: 12 years ago
Jock itch refers to any infection of the groin area. It's associated with sweating and friction; risk factors inclide heat, humidity, excessive sweating, and tight clothing.
Jock itch can be caused by 3 types of microorganisms: bacteria, yeast (Candida albicans, most common in diabetics), and fungi (Epidermatophton floccosum and Trichophyton, which are the same fungi that cause ahtlete's foot).
To relieve the pain and itch, try a 1% hydrocortisone cream for 3-4 days. To get rid of the microbe causing the infection, you need a prescription antibiotic cream for bacteria. For the fungi that also cause athlete's foot, use Tinactin, Cruex, or Desenex. To cover these fungi and possible Candida albicans, use Lotrimin, Micatin, or Monistat Derm. It'll take 2-4 weeks for these to clear the infection.

You need to get a body scrub brush and use it to remove all the dead skin. (Soaking your foot in hot water first will help soften the dead skin.) At night, use a moisturizer on your foot and cover it with a sock; your foot should look much better in no time!

I want to learn more about cockroaches...

I live in Forida, and we have a huge variety called Palmetto bugs. They're especially bad if you have a septic tank in your yard, because roaches literally eat crap. They love it if you're a hoarder, because that gives them plenty of places to breed and hide. Therefore, I don't store bags of things under my sink, and I keep all containers of food in the cupboards very well-sealed. They will also gravitatge towards potted plants in the house. They like kitchens and bathrooms best, because of the moisture. They were so bad in my last house (we had a septic tank there) that it's one of the main reasons I sold that house..
If see one and want to immediately kill it, here's a way that's non-toxic and non-staining to furniture, carpet, and clothes: a spray cleaner like Fantastic or Lysol. I found this out by accident. If it's a big one, just keep spraying until it slows down. A pest controller later told me that the detergent actually clogs up their breathing tubes, and they suffocate to death. It's funny, because when you first spray them, it cause them to want to move fast to get away, bu the more thy move, the faster they suffocate!
