      Sounds like a hard drive problem. You may need a new one. A problem like this needs a computer tech and I'm not one. I can only give my best guess.

        If you can get a friend to download and burn a CD of Linux Ubuntu (its free), you could put it your disc drive and let your computer boot from there. This would allow you to determine if everything on the computer is working ok with the exception of your hard drive. If all works well, you will need to determine the options to repair or replace the hard drive.

          Has your hard drive been making noises? If you have a back up boot up disc, try inserting that and see if it starts up. Also, make sure your battery isn't completely discharged.
