me too, scared the shit out of me when i was little, thank god i'm living in a better suburban today :)
In Australia we have plenty. We need to have our houses treated about every six months. We live next to the bush, so that makes it worse.
Water bugs. When I was a kid sitting in my darkened bedroom one of them crawled up my leg. Yuck. Actually, I don't really like bugs of any kind.

My chubby cat sat on one once, then picked it up in her mouth, bought it to my mother and dropped it there. Needless to say my mom was not thrilled.
