What are some of the cool things added to akaQA associated with karma points?

Just read up on rules and karma points, . Many probably don't, so this question is asked that all may be made aware.

The bit about karma points has been up for as long as akaQA has existed. It's not new.

Have asked for 2 years. Have always just been told they would be working on adding features. Never found out myself what the features are suppose to be. I did get a message 3 weeks ago that the part you've asked about was to be updated soon, that came with the message telling me that rules would be posted to the forum due to many requests by members.

What are Karma points?

As you contribute to the community your profile accumulates Karma points. These points distinguish you as a respected member and one which opinion is highly regarded by the community. Gaining Karma points also opens up doors to some cool features in akaQA which are constantly added.

The karma points system is not intended for resolving personal conflicts between members.

Here's how karma points work:
Each "Thumbs Up" on your question or answer yields 15 point.
Each "Thumbs Down" on your question or answer yields -35 point.
Each "Thumbs Down" on someone else's question yields -10 points.

Number of daily votes

The number of daily votes you can give is limited and grows as you gain more Karma points.

Copy and paste just for you Vinny. :)

interestingly enough , though I haven't dropped Karma points, being less active here has lessened the # of Karma I can give....hmmmm ???? It s a bit of a relief, at one point I had so much Karma I could give out in a day that it would have been virtually impossible to hand them all out & prob would have taken more than 24 hrs to do so.

I don't get the question. b/c when it first started, I asked what the rewards are for karma points, and they said there's no reward. So, I never paid any further attention to it.

Yes, I gave people TUs, if their answer was well thought out, but I never noticed how many karma points I had or somebody else has, b/c there's no rewards. ......nothing to work toward.

I think of the karma points as telling me my aka peers appreciate my thoughts, humor, and values. There are some people who, for all intents and purposes, never give me a TU. I don't know what he doesn't like about me...must be something big. Oh well...

@Bob...I have a few who NEVER give me a TU either. Over time I've heard from them..."too busy", "never think of it", and "don't pay any attention to TU's". (Uh huh) To me the TU system, along with humorous answers, WAS all about added enjoyment and communication. That's pretty much gone now and it certainly shows by the lack of activity on the forum! I miss many of the regulars but it's a very different forum now and I don't blame them for leaving. :(

@Ducky: I agree, some really good people are missing, and I miss some of the strong opinionated folk as well as the instigators. Having to be careful not to offend people who need to be horse-whipped is tedious. It's too bad the Admin feels the need to be so controlling.

You are very observant. I liked the "wars" on religion and sexual preference, the lambasting of truly ignorant situations, and the chance to speak out. I was chastised recently and am walking on eggshells here. How much longer I want to do that remains to be seen. My comment was a quote from something I saw on Daisy's FB, and it was appropriate. Sigh.
