I extract and process electronic junk for working parts. copper, gold, silver, platinum, niobium, phosphors, nickel, osmium, mercury, lead, tin, bismuth, plastics and adhesives…..it’s my hobby. I like to collect junk, disassemble a lot of it ( TVs, computers, old phones, yes and that too). Most of the electronics are stripped as components…no de-soldering here, its all cut, clipped or otherwise disassembled. It is shocking how much is re-useable. There is some gold but I don’t usually refine that because it can be used to produce jewelry and add-on ornamentals directly. Raw refined gold is only worth 90-95% of stock market spot. At $1000.00 an ounce you would have to be stupid to sell when, with a little work and ingenuity the value of your trinket goes to $3000.00 per ounce or more. There is no quick money in junk unless you can turn it over the same day for more than you paid for it.
