An update, as of Tuesday 6pm, there are 140 fires in N.S.W. , 40 of them are out of control, a out of control fire in a National Park in Victoria, and several in Tasmania, the town of Dunally was wiped out, that fire has been going for five days and a large fire which is under control at Penola, dowh in the south east of South Australia, Australia is in a bad way at the moment.

Oh my goodness. Now would be the time for some of our rain. I do hope things get better and safer very soon. Thanks BM.

Fish, there are thunder storms heading that way , but that could make it worse.

I should have mentioned Tasmania as they are in a real bad way, pple from one coastal town had to flee to the sea, it is strange to see burnt out shells of cars on the beach, they were very lucky.

Really sorry to hear this news. Way over here in this house we are truly hoping for the ideal results... enough water to stop the fires. xo Fishie

Oh my goodness again... I just read your second post. My biggest pain is the lot behind me has trees that need to be removed for safety issues... this puts life in perspective. I truly hope the devistation ends quickly.

Australian bush fire threat ever make the news in the Northern Hemisphere.
    FISH-O

Yes. The pictures that Chris Hadfield took from outer space... and some pics of the fire fighters keeping the flames at bay. I imagine it doesn't look as alarming as it actually is as quite a few of the pictures show very dry land dotted with trees.

Fish, N.S.W. have been out on alert again as another scorcher for today (11th) and tomorrow, Victoria has in a place a complete fire ban. Fish don't be disillusioned by the barren land, somehow this catches fire too and the wind fire can out run a man, it is frightening, especially fire balls, eucalyptus trees (Gum Trees) ignite like someone put petrol on them because of the eucalyptus vapour from the heat.

This must be devistating for the wildlife. Two days ago my son and I watched a bulldozer go through the treed lot behind our house. It has stood undisturbed for years. A townhouse complex is planned sometime soon. There was a little squirrel on a neighbour's fence in quite a state of affairs. What's going on in Australia must be absolutely devistating for all the inhabitants. Everything from bugs, flora, fauna and human beings. We get some pretty devistating fires in British Columbia during summer months and we had a Pine Beatle infestation sweep through not that many moons ago. It is very easy to have empathy. I do hope this ends soon.

What i have seen in the past on the news, the terrain and foliage are very similar, thus prone to bush fires. ( Wild Fires)

Prayers are with everyone  and  all the animals in your state. They did say, that Tuesday would be worst and many people lost theire homes. God bless you all. Sorry I did not see your post, before I posted mine.

Quite alright Ann, fortunately no lives have been lost, but i'm afraid we may have lost wild animals in the National parks, Koala's are the worst affected as their way of escape is to climb trees, of course is a death trap.
    Ann

That is a terrible tragedy for those animals. It upsets me so.

Thinking of them all, hope they keep safe.

Take care all.  Bulletman, thanks for the Heads Up.

Itsme, the fires are getting worse, WED. morn 9th, Tasmania has got them bad, approx. 100 people missing, but they are likely in other evacuation centres, we hope.
    Ann

bulletman, No one has heard from wonderdyke. Hope she is alright.
    bulletman

I hope so as well, Ann.
    itsmee

    anything new????
    bulletman

Itsmee the fires are relatively under control,as the temp. today was cooler but problem being the temp is forcast hot for tomorrow, 11th, fortunely no loss of life, plenty of properties lost, the shity thing is that at least three fires were deliberately lit. -- i think these fires will burn for several days, from what i saw on the news 20% of N.S.W. has been burnt, which is a hugh area. A lot of animals unfortunely did not escape, domestic and wild.

Thanks Bulletman, i am not affected as i am in the heart of surburbia. But gosh i can smell the smoke.

    Ann

My prayers are with you all.
    bulletman

I heard on the 10pm news three homes have been lost, Tassie is in a bad way, i'm glad you have not been affected.
