Christian and religious can be very different things check the links leeroy left at the bottom for good info.

I believe in God and his beautiful creation, but not in organized religion.  I am also very spiritual. I believe everyone has the right to believe in whatever they choose, without someone trying to force theire belief on others.

Ann, I checked this “best answer’ because it it exactly what I think. I believe in the Golden Rule and try to live my life according to that.
Colleen, why is it that if you don't believe in the Bible, Christianity or Jesus, you are always on the link that ask a Jesus question?

You believe all is going to be in Heaven, so why try to change things, if thats so.

I am on these links because I want all to go to Heaven, but I believe you can only through Jesus. I want to let all I can know.

I love debating with you but I'm trying to convert you because I care.
    Why do you debate?

You said: "As long as you love God and do right by others, then you're doing right by him."
So what if I am not good to others, what is my punishment?
    cogito ergo sum

your hubris is amazing. out of about 7 billion on this planet, maybe 2 billion or a little more believe the only way to salvation is through acceptance of jesus; however this means that about 5 billion people or a little less believe this is nonsense. maybe if you were more tolerant, you would understand that all religions believe their religion is the right one to show them the way to heaven or nirvana or whatever. what is right for you is not necessarily right for them.accept this because there is no way to prove who is right.
    Headless Man

No argument most will never change. I believe in Jesus enough to say so, if you don't fine but my question was for Coleen as I stated above. I think my question has merit.

Randy, why are you here? The question was about God minus the bible stuff. You believe in the bible stuff. I do not. Seems I should be in this thread more than you. Why are you in every thread that has nothing to do with bible stuff and still manage to ooze bible stuff into your comments?

As a moderator of the forum, I check all threads to ensure no one is causing crap in them (mainly looking for trolls, spammers and people using vulgar abusive language). If I happen to have a thought while I'm in them, I post it. You Christians are so damn me and MINE oriented. It's sicking. Mine, Mine, Mine, you can't have it, I won't share it, it's my thread, my topic..ugh...how do you stand yourselves?
    Colleen

Why do you believe I'm always debating? A lot of times I'm just sharing my thoughts and opinions. Another thing about you Christians, you see everything as a fight. And people ask why wars happen? RELIGION AND RELIGIOUS PEOPLE! You all fight, fight fight. Then point fingers when you're doing the same as the people you point fingers at. Ugh again.

"You believe all is going to be in Heaven, so why try to change things, if thats so."

I also believe in reincarnation. Souls go to the lower heavens in between lifetimes. They could be there for a couple hundred earth years. Maybe more, maybe less..then they have to leave to live another lifetime. As Soul learns and achieves what it needs to, it moves up the levels of heaven until at last, it can remain with God in His heaven. All souls will go to heaven. It's just a matter of which heaven. That's what I believe and that's why living right is important, that's why one should change things for the better.

I don't think there is a God without the Bible stuff.
I'm here to let people know Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

I feel sorry for you that you are so religion sick. I hope you get better soon. I still deny your prayers. As you can see your evil voo-doo does not work. You follow a negative belief that respects no one, not even you. This will keep you far from God's higher heaven. I leave you to Him to sort out and make right. May the blessings be.

Religious means you follow a religion. If you don't follow a religion, then you are a believer in God and follow your own spiritual path. there's nothing wrong with that contrary to what a Christian might tell you. I believe in God. I do not believe in the holy trinity God. I am not religious.
    suliz

Oh lovely! No wonder I drive them all mad. I am Church of England but I have very little time for the bible. It was written before too many proven scientific discoveries, and by men, for men.

The other thing that I'm not sure they even believe is one of my best friends is a Rector, who doesn't do doctrine. He gets through the "absolutely must" bit so fast he leaves you blinking... but his sermons make a lot of sense. I could get even you into a church to listen to him, if only because curiosity would fetch you:-)

Doctrine is dogma, aka agenda. It is designed to keep the followers following blindly and without question. This is how closed minded people are created. I would go to the church of leeroy if he had his own because he is not closed minded. I may not agree with all of his thoughts but I respect that he keeps his mind open.
    itsmee

suliz. this is wildly off topic but I want to tell you I love your dog. I am feeding and keeping a Shelty in a box across the street. Someone just abandoned her. Can’t imagine that.

    I would consider him agnostic.

I don't believe in Jesus nor the bible, I'm a hindu it's more tolerant. We don't need to stand on soap-boxes and preach to encourage people to join. Only Muslims and small minded Christians do that.

Guess he don't like you eggplant. Or just like they cherry pick their black book, they also cherry pick those they attempt to convert into their cult. I hope his ignoring you don't make you feel unwanted.

I believe in God. I believe Jesus  was a great teacher. I love God and worship him.

...and I don't think one has to believe in God or Jesus in any traditional sense.  Each of us is individulal for a reason and we don't wear uniforms because we don't have to.

These questions are by far the most entertaining.

I believe in walking your own path.  I don't think anyone is right or wrong.  It just is.

After I get through a few more life times I may have a different opinion.

He or she may be a better person.
No Colleen, I cannot be converted and I don't give a rats whether he likes me or not!! i've sure started something, hee hee. Must be the devil in me!
You always use capitals when you use the word God or Jesus.
    Randy, you wrote :

"Colleen, why is it that if you don't believe in the Bible, Christianity or Jesus, you are always on the link that ask a Jesus question?"

Because she more than likely feels that the subject(s) discriminates upon her homosexuality. It is not entirely without merit but what I find rather curious is why she introduces her sexual denomination in discussions that have nothing to do with the subject matter.

The same goes for you, Randy. You often sprinkle your religious beliefs on subjects that are quite removed from any spiritual explanations.

Can we not discuss things rationally without agenda pushing?

Interesting that you think you can speak for me digger. I mention my sexuality because it is part of who I am. If it makes you uncomfortable, too bad. If I mention it, it pertains to a point I'm making. What agenda am I pushing other than my civil rights that you enjoy but I do not? Please do make a list of the threads where I've mentioned my sexuality out of turn in since you're paying so much attention to it. Answers: 2629 So if I've mentioned my sexuality even 50-100 times I'm still OK.
    digger

"I mention my sexuality because it is part of who I am. If it makes you uncomfortable, too bad. "

I'm heterosexual and agnostic. It is part of who I am. I don't,however, bring it up at regularly scheduled intervals because I fear that it MAY make YOU uncomfortable. I wouldn't want that.

"If I mention it, it pertains to a point I'm making."

    Not all the time.

"What agenda am I pushing other than my civil rights that you enjoy but I do not? "

Your gay marriage position that can rightly be defended when answering questions pertaining to marriage. This question makes no mention of the word yet you again bring up your agenda.

Digger really? Heterosexuals do not have to hide who they are like homosexuals do. I have heterosexuality all around me on a daily basis. You really think you need to not talk about it in front of me? Did you forget you mentioned my "agenda" first so I was merely responding to that? Answers I've given: 2629. So if I've mentioned my sexuality even 50-100 times I'm still OK.

    "Not all the time."

Please point it out to me next time so I can apologize for offending your senses.

I believe gay marriage should be legal. I'll say that anywhere and everywhere. It's a civil right I'm being denied by close minded bigots. It's both religious and political. It belongs everywhere. There. I did it again. No one will shut me up about it.
    digger

"Heterosexuals do not have to hide who they are like homosexuals do."

Hide? Are you kidding me? It's "in" to be gay these days. You can't possibly deny that. Nobody's hiding. Gays are, in fact, over represented in today's mass media, be it TV or cinema. The closets are bare (as they should be)Don't over-victimize yourself.

"Answers I've given: 2629. So if I've mentioned my sexuality even 50-100 times I'm still OK."

I'm not counting but I'd bet that you've mentioned it way more than 100 times...and that's not ok.

"Please point it out to me next time so I can apologize for offending your senses."

I'm pointing it out to you now and I don't get offended, just turned off.

"I'll say that anywhere and everywhere."

You just finished saying that you don't say it anywhere and everywhere. So you DO agree that you over do it.

Please, there are many thousands still hiding. A lot of them are unhappily married to the opposite sex because they still live in fear of being found out. Just because the media might show it now, does not mean all gays are without the fear that's kept them hidden for so long. You might want to believe it's a different world for us but it's not. There's still a great amount of danger out there. There's also a great anount of people who still hate homosexuals and will make sure any homo they meet knows it.

"I'm not counting but I'd bet that you've mentioned it way more than 100 times...and that's not ok."

Not OK for you? Again, too bad.

Every time someone whines about the mentioning of homosexuality, I get louder, while others go into hiding for fear that the whiner will turn on them too. Be happy you at least shut them up. I have always been out spoken and I will not change for a stranger on the internet. If I've mentioned it a thousand times out of 2629 answers, I'm still OK. Just be honest, you're not OK with homosexuals. They make you uncomfortable. If they did not, the mentioning of homosexuality no matter how many times, would not bother you.

Now, last point. Here it is again. I am having to talk about my sexuality because someone brought it up to me first.

You attacked me in your answer to Randy. You attacked the fact I mention my sexuality too much. You did this. Now think about how many others like you I have to answer to frequently. Do you THINK that might be why I mention it so much? Please note when I mention it if I'm responding to someone like I've had to respond to your charge here. You're trying to pin me to only certain threads where I can talk about it. You might as well just tell me to go back into my closet. Not happening. I've never been in the closet and never will be.
    digger

"Please, there are many thousands still hiding... Just because the media might show it now, does not mean all gays are without the fear that's kept them hidden for so long... None of this has anything to do with gay marriage laws.Homophobia maybe, but not gay marriage.People that "hate" gays will do so whether they're married or not.

"Not OK for you? Again, too bad."

    Thanks, Colleen

DID I MENTION GAY MARRIAGE HERE BEFORE YOU CAME ALONG AND SPOKE FOR ME? Where else have I mentioned gay marriage when it was not a topic about gay marriage??? And what I said has everything to do with gay marriage too. It's people like that who fight to keep our marriage rights from us.

I will not hide who I am, not for anyone.

"You just finished saying that you don't say it anywhere and everywhere. So you DO agree that you over do it."

Nice try but the spin doesn't work. I was saying no one will dictate where and when I can mention my sexuality.

"Not OK for you? Again, too bad."

    Thanks, Colleen

Would you like to tell me what my limit is on how many times I can mention my sexuality since I offended you yet again by not accepting your decree that it's NOT OK with you that I mention it where you don't want me to mention it? Will you be making all my other life decisions too? I'd just like to know up front since I have to clear one thing with you if I should clear everything else with you also.
    Headless Man

Interesting comments, Colleen, I could say the same things you say about your sexuality believes about how I feel about my christian believes doubled. Yet you act like I talk to much about it, well God and christianity effects almost everything we do. Sex should be kept in the bedroom. Colleen I've never said anything about your sexuality.

I do not talk about the sex I have, I never have and I never will. I talk about how homosexuals love emotionally and they are being denied their civil rights. It's you fools who put your heads in their bedrooms. I also do not over do it like digger thinks I do. Please point out where I mention my sexuality in every thread I'm in. It should be easy. Lesbian, gay, gay marriage, homosexuality. Just getting my quota in.
If someone believs in God(or a god) and follows rituals because of this he is religious. Someone can only be called a Christian if they follow Jesus (Christ). Christians are NOT religious. religious means following the rules and rituals of a religion. Christianity has nothing to do with anything we do - it's about what Jesus has done for us. It is a relationship not a religion. Therefore your answer could be yes

Interesting. So because Christians have churches where they go and listen to sermons and pray and have traditional services, this does not make Christians religious?

Why would you find me in a book that I do not believe in? Contrary to your belief system, not all people believe in the Jesus/god. I believe in God. I believe Jesus was a man sent with a message from God. I do not however believe he had multiple personality disorder. There is God and there is Jesus but there is no Jesus/God. You will find false words in the bible though. It's been the "devils playground" for centuries.

It's up to you to find the false words. Not my responsibility. It's yours. Good luck. Do not trust that all who had a hand in the creating, interpreting, transcribing of the bible were doing God's work.

Simply stated, yup!  Religious vs. Spiritual, is the same horse of a different colour.

    Colleen

No, Spiritual allows for freedom of beliefs and questioning everything. Religions controls thought and disallows deviation from their agenda. Two different breeds of animal not even related.

No,.......just thinking out of the box,  and that is a good thing!!  There is a reason why God gave us minds...............and it's not all about the man-written bible.  Much more to life than just that!!

To a degree and that's the extent. No more no less. Some people don't have the background or any christian education, so its no big deal.

religion is man's search for God. christanity is God's search for man.

Welcome to akaQA. I don’t quite understand what you said but that’s nothing new,

Colleen, the "nutjob" reference was not about a religion or someone attached to a specific religion, it was a reference to you calling someone on this site a nutjob. Something that I find appauling and wouldn't expect from a moderator. Crass remarks are extremely vulgar and hurtful and you should be held accountable.

Our Scripture has these writings of such people:

    Romans 2:14-16 (King James Version)

14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

*yeah, you're gonna find some people that believe in and worship God, the Father, but not Jesus because they have not come to know Him in this day. But, a time is coming when we ALL will.

    Are you related to FriendofGod?

First of all believing in God has nothing to do with religion. Religion is man made. The Bible is the word of God, and contains the truth.

    nomdeplume

I don't think the Bible is considered by Christians or Jews to be the 'word of God', they believe it to be God-inspired. The Muslims however consider the Koran to be the actual words of God, transmitted via the Angel Gabriel to Mohammed, who was illiterate, repeated them to his wife who wrote them down. That is a fundamental difference between the faiths.
