I am an artist and as an artist that has studied hard, gone to school and worked every day since making art and selling art... smarten up and begin your work. Enroll in classes and pay for what you want to learn.
It is upsetting that someone would pay actual money to become an electrician, carpenter, doctor, lawyer, nurse or dog trainer but want art lessons for free.
Being an artist is a real job. We work really hard. We study even when we are selling because there is always something else to learn.
Please have respect... and don't forget to support local artists in your area.

I can truly appreciate that but I wasn't referring to an overall education but rather something that would be a beginners way of trying it out to discover if this would be something that I would genuinely be interested in investing in.
It takes a very long time to master any discipline... why would you not want to pay someone for just teaching you the basics? It doesn't seem right to me.
I went to school and still take classes. So, I should pay and you shouldn't... How about you teach me the basics in building an anagama kiln. I want to do that. We could trade.

Knowing what you are doing with any artistic discipline takes years of practice. By asking for this "little thing" for free is an insult to artists. It may look easy but it's not.
