    New Country

Please don't clobber me if this has been asked already..ha ha!  :)

Are there any fans out there of the "new country", which is actually not so new now.

If so, who are your favourites?

I sometimes listen to Toby Keith, Big & Rich, Tim Mcgraw...to name a few.

I am with you on Rage and with you on the Jazz ... sorry Vinny too!
    Dardaigh

Oh yeah...the only problem with Rage is I tend to drive a little...faster! :)
    FISH-O

Funny... the same effect on me!

    Sorry Dardaigh... not a fan.

It's difficult to go from the Who and David Bowie... through Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails and land on New Country.  I have tried and failed.

    On a sad note...

Bob Welch, former Fleetwood Mac guitarist and then solo artist died this week of an apparent suicide.

    doolittle

Yeah, i heard about Bob- sad!!!
    lambshank

Sad, I didn't hear about that, love Fleetwood Mac
    jhharlan

    Suicide is such a waste......
    FISH-O

Confirmed, He shot himself in the chest and left a suicide note... Thursday.
    jhharlan

Shooting yourself to death is actually very hard to do. Bet he didn't die right away. Suicide is actually very tough to do. Remember: NOBODY TRIES TO COMMIT SUICIDE....
    lambshank

Oh, fishy that's awful, wonder why??
    FISH-O

@JH... My sister tried to commit suicide a couple of times before she was successful.
@Lambie, His wife made a statement saying he had issues with his health. Sad for his family.
    Dardaigh

That is very sad to hear of his death, Fishlet! :(

As far as the genre, I can appreciate that you don't enjoy it...though I love Rage Against The Machine and can still enjoy just about anything, music-wise, except jazz (no offense to Vinny!) :)

I know a few of their songs...they're fine.

    Dardaigh

Uh huh but as far as country music goes, Doo? :)
    doolittle

Well, I listen to some...what's funny is I've been asked to book and promote a local country band- so, I'm getting more familiar with it.
    Dardaigh

Wow, a person of many talents! :)
    doolittle

It's time to learn new things! For me anyway!
    Dardaigh

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly..we should all be learning something new every day.

Oh...and the penny finally dropped on the new innovation for the conversation alert...see? I also learned sumpin' new today. :)

Where do you draw the line as to old and new? I'm a big fan; it would help me to answer your question.

    doolittle

Oh, I was thinkin she meant the band - not the style of music- LOL
    Dardaigh

Well Clonge, I was thinking of, say, when Shania Twain came on the scene and made it more mainstream, compared to the days of Dolly Parton/Porter Wagoner, for instance (though I do like Dolly.)

It's been so long since I've turned on a radio, not sure if I have one. But, I remember New Country and their hit song......

    lambshank

Julie, what was the song? not sure if I've ever heard them
    jhharlan

I think it had the words "IN A NEW COUNTRY" in it or I'm thinking of the wrong band....
    doolittle

    Julie- you're right
    lambshank

I will have a look for it, doesn't sound familiar, perhaps I haven't heard it,thanks
    Dardaigh

    Big Country--In A Big Country, Julie. :)
    jhharlan

    Oh, right.....

Thank you!Darling !opp Dardaigh! you are a smart cat lady.

    Dardaigh

LOL! You are most welcome! :)

Dardaigh! my first though that came to mind about " New Country" What? I wasn't aware any new Country had been extablish! well you know us cave men are not aware of new country music, BTW, Maybe you can tell me who sang that song, a farorite of mind, "I love you just the way you are, I wouldn't change you even if I could".?

    Dardaigh

C'mon outta that cave, Facebook! lol :)

    Here's your song...

    Just the Way You Are
    Billy Joel

Don't go changing, to try and please me
You never let me down before
    Don't imagine you're too familiar
And I don't see you anymore
I wouldn't leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, I'll take the bad times
I'll take you just the way you are

Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care

    I don't want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that I can talk to
I want you just the way you are.

I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you.

I said I love you and that's forever
And this I promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.

I love country music. Johnny Cash and Dixie Chicks are my favorites.

    Dardaigh

I have a CD of the Dixie Chicks called "Fly", Pikku. :)
