      I don't know for sure, but I'm betting you have to have a credit card to get the car. That way, the company has some leverage with you. When you return the vehicle, you can probably pay the whole thing in cash, but that credit card is going to GET you the rental in the first place.

        In my experience it is impossible to rent a car without a credit card.
