Sorry! I had mine posted early on but took it down because so few others did. I know this isn't a social site, but I find it curious so few post their pictures and basic info.
Excuse my English Ross:( What I meant to say is: if I was the 1st one to answer and had Colleen's writing skills, her answer would have been my answer.
Russ, I'm talking about the reply you gave to my answer. Now if you're saying it was you own answer to the question, then it should be added as subtext to the question title or it should be posted in the blue area. It should not be posted where it can gain extra karma for the question.
As for akaQA, it is a general question and answer forum but a bit more lax than other question and answer forums because the admin here do allow for socializing. Very few question and answer forums allow chatter between the members. Also it's one of the few forums that allow opinions and more freedom of speech than many other forums. This is what sets us apart from the rest and makes this forum fun. We answer questions and have fun doing it. This is why people get upset when newbies come along and try to change things.

Hey Russ, maybe you have way too much time, just think how much you could be doing practcally speaking helping others instead of judging others for either their lack of computer skills, or wishing to remain anonymous

I'm guessing because some do not know how to upload a picture, others use this site as it's meant to be... a general question and answer site. They come here to answer questions and not socialize. Others may feel that it's simply none of anyone's business. Again, all just guessing and assuming.
I'm quite certain you're not really a cartoon character and your basic information gives no real information about you.

Not I. I persished as a fish in Ed Shank's room of Hell. It was horrible. Ducka (at the time) tried to save me only to be terribly injured... Thank goodness for the Aliens of Jasper Kola 417... Romos and his Fleamily were about to eat me for dinner!!! Augh! It is such a sad tale of woe... especially the stuck in a jar at the bottom of the ocean part.

I did enjoy my alien shrimp adventure. Shrimps look at the world very differently than fish. It was a unique experience.

Thanks Bob/PKB! I'm sorry you feel that way. I am a very good person just having some fun here. I've never, ever been in trouble with the law. I'm actually a pretty quiet, easygoing guy. I would never say what you just did to anybody, let alone a complete stranger, because I am much more sensitive than that. I think it's pretty rude. Have a wonderful day!

Oh, my, I think you have shown that you are only sensitive about your own feelings. I think you put my finger on my feeling....while you profess to be quiet and easygoing, you generally impress me as intense and with a desire to be noticed. I could be wrong; people have misread me here; c'est la vie.
If you could care less about people posting their photos, work on caring less. Caring enough to post a question about it is caring quite a bit.

Actually Bob/PKB, you are way off base. No one would ever call me intense and I am one of the most humble guys you would ever meet. As I said before, I am a bit of a perfectionist, and that sometimes gets me in trouble.
Also, I don't like people who try to force their opinions on us, or presume their opinion is the only one that matters. Honestly, and I know I shouldn't admit this, the question was simply to get my karma points up, so don't read to much into it.
Finally, "I couldn't care less" is improper English because it is a double-negative. "I could care less" is correct. (That's what annoys people about me I think, being corrected, and actually expecting people on this site to give factual answers, rather than a guess.)

PBK,is right in that the correct phrase is "Couldn't care less", implying that you care the least amount.
I COULD CARE LESS implies care. I could not care less than I do now makes it perfectly clear that there is no interest in the subject at hand. If someone needs that to be spelled out, I will be sure to do that in the future.

Russ, I see your thinly veiled comments about me and I tell you again, this site runs the way it does because the admin like it that way. They own it, we go by their ideas, not yours. Opinions are well appreciated by them whether you like it or not. Factual answers are always supplied, if not by one, they are by another. I too fail to see any part of humble in your persona. I do not see perfectionist either, I see control. You want to control everything about this forum and you are selfish too as your fun is all that matters even if it is at the expense of another. This is what you present. You claim you want to get along with people here, you claim you want to make friends yet all I see of you is arguments to virtually everyone who replies to you. At this point, you've only caused upset with many members here. It really is saying something when I find myself saying, I agree with Bob/PKB on everything she has said here. Thanks Colleen.I'm now using a different computer but my son in law (Our resident computer expert)has taken away the hard drive from my old computer & promises to recover my photos.He will doi it but in his own sweet time.LOl.

Back almost a year ago i did post the idea of posting your picture as your avitar, i'm guessing some 80-90 percent were not keen to the idea, as for me i can't find a picture that does me justice.. good question though !!

me either daren , for some strange reason my nose always looks bigger in a photo, the laugh lines deeper, and all the things that I'd prefer not to be amplified sought of show up

Russ I read all the answers and the comments and I have read alot of all your postings well.................you say that you are quite a humble guy.....to me in most of your answers and comments you want or should I say crave the attention by arguing. To me you sound a lonely person crying out. I hope I am wrong you need to calm down and chill out this is not good for anyone and the only attention you will get is animosity.

I agree I have been unnecessarily argumentative, and I promise to try to refrain from doing so from now on. All I ask is that certain people here respect me enough to try not to antagonize me as well. It started out as just having some fun because, I must admit, I think I am pretty good in an argument. But then it got hostile (on both sides) and people got hurt and defensive, including myself.
From now on, all I want to do is answer some questions as truthfully as I can, avoid the controversial ones (which will be hard to do), and ask a few thoughtful ones every now and then. I'll try to remember the purpose of this site: To answer general questions thoughtfully and factually, and nothing else. I have learned in my professional life that "less is more" and I should edit my thoughts here as I do with my business correspondence.
I must admit that some of the responses I've received have puzzled me, like this one for example. Why has such a simple, straight-forward question generated such a response, when other more interesting ones I've asked haven't generated much at all? I think part of the reason is that some people have come to look for something sinister in my questions when there isn't anything sinister there. I am a curious person by nature. Sometimes a question or comment is simply that and nothing more.
I really am a quiet, easygoing, humble person in real life, and I'm ashamed of the way I've behaved here.
A final point I'd like to make is that I am not a psychologist or psychiatrist and I would never presume to analyse others, yet I am surprised that so many are quick to analyze me when all they see is a sliver of who I am here.
At any rate, please be assured: To those I've antagonized or offended, I sincerely apologize. I hope we can start anew. :)

I hope you can stick to what you say here. Just know, that as a moderator, I say things to let you know when you're out of line. I see what the others say even when you do not. I have to be here for all members and when I hear or see them complaining, then I have to step in. It's my job.

@Russrock-o-saurus... I agree with Mel. I also find it hard to believe that you are sincere as you are not viewing your actions in a completely clear light. I for one, am going to wait and see what happens next. This question did point out that some of the avatars were getting stale... and then you wonder why members answer negatively... It may have started out as a simple question, it didn't actually end that way.

I see nothing wrong with using an Avatar, why else would they provide them? Not everyone thinks they are handsome or pretty, some persons still want some bit of control within a free environment. It is all about choice, democracy and a little thing called freedom of expression.

Well Russrocks...I see that you've done it again! Have you decided yet, if there is anyone on this site, that you actually enjoy? I notice that you say things such as "have a great day" or "I love you", after arguing with a member. Condescending isn't it? I get the same feeling about you that Bob/PKB has expressed....there is just something that I can't quite put my finger on. Put your own picture up, along with a blog about yourself, and maybe that will help us identify "that feeling". Btw, never have I seen a so-called "perfectionist" make so many spelling errors in so many responses. Now go ahead and tell ME to have a great day too!
