Also, I agree with benthere above except for breaking a company policy. Most business policies are sound, rational and ethical. However, a few are not. If you break a company policy that is clearly unethical, then you are acting ethically. In that case, you should report the policy to proper authorities. Whistleblower laws prevent retaliation against you.
Does anybody know of a specific company policy that has clearly been unethical that could be used as an example here? (Please do not name the company unless the case has already been resolved in the courts.)
