      Rue is a herb that repels cats.  It is not harmful in any way.  In the beds that I don't want cats, I plant Rue but you can also keep it in pots.

        Rue doesn't have a strong smell actually and certainly not one that I can identify with others to explain. It's kind of earthy.
        I have two herb gardens with different assortments... Most of these herbs have a definable scent... Rue isn't like that.

                    I have heard they dont like the smell of orange peel but whether or not its true i dont know.I have an indoor cat,on the odd occasion(the dog does not tolerate strange cats on his teritory)we get a visitor on the garden,my cat goes absolutely barmy!!!And no,i I dont think she wants to go out and play!!!
