I was a teacher for 35 yrs in a high school, mostly male student population, most of those years. Of late, things have changed so that it is maybe 65% female, 35% male students. I think that it makes a difference to have teaching staff in each situation, I was glad I am male for most of my career, mostly male students (vocational school). I do not think it really matters if you are masterful in your skill, but when you are becoming established, it seems that the female teachers get more of a bad time from unruly students than male teachers do. Those first few years can be real difficult!
