See your doctor but building muscle is the only good approach to keeping fat off. The more muscle you put on the more energy it takes for them to work. Eating good protein and staying away from sugars is important if your doctors approves. Don’t be a super hero and do too much too fast, start very light even if you feel silly doing so. In time, you will want to increase but too much too fast, and you will crash and burn and that is always hard to recover from the next time you want to try again. You will be very surprised on what you can gain with simple dumbbells and shake weights. You have many, many muscle you can work individually on with simple low weight dumbbells. In time you will be burning fat while you are resting.
