I get no joy in saying this ,but you are scouts and resilience is a quality taught ,that and self reliance . Item 1.) the book looks like you may need to rebuild it ,that means choosing the right glue making a clamping jig and make it stronger . Teachable moment. Some detective work will solve the sash issue look for old photos at gatherings see what the majority are doing and decide . Sewn on wrong, time for a seam ripper and some removal .If at first you don't succeed try try again . Teachable moment . Shame they dont do better for the kids
