No worries ,many take things for granted and fail to see how they are responsible for things . If your name is on it then you are legally tied to it for better or worse no matter what . What if there is a fatal accident with that car ,and you are the registered owner its all on you .The law has nothing to do wjth whats eight or wrong only whats legal. It can be wrong as hell and still legal . Courts are a pitiful joke and rarely get things right .

This sucks ,as you are responsible if there is a accident. Always falls on the registered owner. You must take steps to resolve this . Make a noterized statement regarding this and send to DMV reregistered mail keep all copies . Make a police report and keep all copies . Notify all credit agency's that financing on this car is not yours . Find the address of where the car is and notify the lien holder of the car of this situation . If you dont fight back like a crazy person you will end up under the bus . Start kicking some butt and taking names . The one who did this should be walking in days . Dont take this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info bluesman. No one ever put a car in my name and I've obviously never been involved nor heard about anyone in such a fiasco! Glad you gave the right advice.
Ducka, I once walked away from a car ,never gave it another thought just abandoned it . Thought it would go to the wrecking yard and be eaten by the scrap machines and be gone .Years later I got from the DMV a bill for a huge amount of parking tickets ,apparently some one loved this car more than I and got it going and parked as they pleased for years without regard for the law . Even by fire hydrants . Must have thought they were royalty . Short part of this story I had to pay and I no longer lived in that state . The laws stance was : You are the registered owner ,be more careful who you loan your car to . PAY UP !!!!!
Experience is a "teacher", that's for sure...glad you were here to respond to this one...hope that the questioner sees your advice as I see nothing from him/her as yet!
