Being that salmon is a strong fish you should use a wine with a bit of flavor. Usually with fish or poultry the rule is white wine. It also depends on your side dishes, you want to balance out the meal..
Here are the top five suggestions I've found
Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon Blanc. Personally I prefer a sweet, but not to sweet wine if you catch my drift. Hope this helps.
