the type of armour would vary depending on the time period and the individual wealth of the Knight. However the general rule was that the Knight would wear his most protective armour just about all the time. Apart of the protection it also provided excercise- being the equivalent of wearing heavy weights al the time and giving the benefit of getting used to the weight ahd movement restrictions. In the end it was one of the factors which made the Knight a formidable fighting machine- simply because he WAS much stronger than the average person of his time
