I barter trade at yard sales and flea markets. It makes good since to anyone who barters often. Goods and services for goods and services does not work in most grocery stores or hardware stores but it sure is fun to barter. Those green paper slips and metal disks are addictive for many and I accept cash too, but prefer trade. More folk like it when everyone is poor.

We need money because ducks don't fit in the slot of the soda machine.
Seriously, although I am correct about the soda machine, this question was asked not that long ago, albeit in a different manner. I think the reason for money is so there is a standard way of assessing the value of something. Lettuce costs $1. Yours, mine, the next guy's.
Barter is fine, as long as you possess something with which to barter. Money is universal. It's not perfect, but it sure beats the confusion of other methods.

i saw a lady today asking everybody that came out of McDonald's for money. That particular area has a lot of homeless people with signs indicating they are out of work. "please help" on many corners. No money means no cup of coffee. No movie going. No taking a friend out to lunch. Free soup lines, free food. That's all good. But with money you cash more freely choose where you go and what you do. No money means you're looking on the ground hoping somebody drops a quarter. No money means you probably can not get your clothes cleaned. But i do feel that those of us with money, should share with others in some way. And i know that many on this site have and do share with their family members and/or others. God continue to bless us!!!
