    Swings, slide, or monkeybars?

I don't know about you, but I lived for recess when I was in elementary school.  To this day, I love the swings and fantasize about swinging so high that I go all the way around!  I liked playing jacks, hopscotch, basket- volley- and soft-ball, and soccer, too.
What did you do with those precious minutes out of the classroom?

:D So you were the one!

I was awkward as a child and not very good at sports.  I was a champ when it came to tether ball though...

But thank you for the memories............!

tether ball was awesome...but very few kids had a tether ball and for some reason none of the parks did either.
    Bob/PKB

Awkward, maybe, but you had to have good hand-eye coordination and strength to be a champ at tether ball!

Thanks for the encouragement.......I can put together a Banana Split Cake..........

jungle gym and 4 square! At home: kick the can, capture the flag, dodge ball, marco polo, and hung out in the tree house.

What fun, doolittle. A TREE HOUSE! How fun that had to be. If you had/ve kids, is a tree house something they enjoy?

RE: tether ball: It's possible parks didn't have tether ball because sometimes the rope could wrap around a kid's neck. I do know of one family who had a tether-ball setup at home. Their son got the rope caught around his neck, the pole tipped over and he began choking. His mom ran outside to help, but wasn't strong enough to move him far enough to alleviate the choke-hold. A horrible tragedy; so many kids vegetate in the house and this boy was outside playing...

Ohhh ... I loved to play horses. FAST FAST FASTER. I won a contest in the 6th grade “Fastest Runner In the Class”    I guess I should have been born a horse.

Dodge ball was another favorite. I only liked the games where I could usually win.

Nothing wrong with liking games where you excelled. When I was in 3rd grade, playing dodge ball at school with my sister & some other kids, I rolled the ball at Sissie. She jumped up, landed on the ball, fell forward, and knocked out one of her top front teeth. Yikes.

How old was she? Were they permanent! I believe you have mentioned Sissie before. Hmmmmm? : )

Swings, softball, jacks, marbles, hopscotch, kick the can, hide and seek.  Oh to be so innocent and energetic again...fun, fun, and more fun.   :)

    Bob/PKB

The first sunny day, I'm going to the park! Yes, to be that innocent and energetic again! And carefree!!!!

I forgot BASKETBALL! Winning team all through highschool. Woot!

I went to a pretty tough elementary school....  running away from the big kids.

I liked swings too. Also jump rope we would sing the tunes and doing the antics. Like Teddybear,Teddybear, turn around

    Bob/PKB

Teddy bear, Teddy bear, turn around (How did the rest of it go?"
Down by the river, down by the sea, Johnny broke a bottle and blamed it on me. I told Ma, Ma told Pa. Johnny got a lickin' and "HA HA HA". How many lickin's did Johnny get? 1-2-3-4-5-6-7...
    itsmee

    Teddy bear, teddy bear
    Turn around
    Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear
    Touch the ground

    Teddy bear, Teddy Bear
    Here comes the ball!
    Teddy bear, teddy bear
    Don’t you fall! (for Sissie)

How about shooting marbles? I remember doing that! You could get a great collection going. I don't remember how to  play now.

    Bob/PKB

AHA. SKILL; hand-eye coordination. I loved playing jacks. Still have the ones from elementary school.
When we have our aka convention, we'll have a game. I remember the basics! Thanks for a great answer, clu.

Well, in kindergarten, we did a lot of roll playing, e.g., doctor and nurse, cops and robbers.. I liked playing doctor, but narrowed my practice to gynecology. Needless to say, the kind of exams I wanted to perform in kindergarten, I just couldn't do. So, "those precious minutes out of the classroom" were spent in my "private office" at home. Of course, a 5 year old is outside the "stirrups" of the law.   How I long for the good ole days!

    Bob/PKB

Man, you didn't waste any time!
