Is there anyway I can get a free criminal background check on a male that wants to rent my home. I need information just one time. I don't want to have to pay for this information. I believe he might have an "interesting background". I need to know any information I might be able to get before making this big decision.

I think if I were going to rent my home to someone I did not know, I would spend a little (less than $50.00) money to check them out. My daughter recently had someone rent her nice home for nine months without paying a cent because they were scum.

What right do you have to pry into some ones back ground ?? If there are no current warrants or police troubles then its none of your business. People want to know things they have no right to. Consider this : I wish to rent your house and will pay one year in advance ,but before I do I want to know your complete credit history and your payment history with the bank on the mortgage. I wish to know your history regarding court cases and tenant problems . In short I wish to know you will complete our contract and the house will not go into default before the year is up . I wish to confirm that you actually own the house . How does it feel me asking to see your private stuff ????

Looks like you are talking about a room mate situation ,more than a out right rental of the house . This changes things a lot . Look up "substantial breech " with that they are on the street in 3 days no fooling around and the cops will make it happen . In your lease you may list what you call a substantial breech . I can fully understand your reluctance to take a chance . I hope you see that my point has value as well . There are rental scams where people pretend to own a place rent it and then leave the Tennant hanging out to dry ,while they sail off into the sun with the money. This is a two way street both landlords and tenants lose . I believe in this case we are both correct,my advice is if it dont feel right just pass and move on . The other advice you have received here has merit as well . Bill
