People trying to understand why they ended their calendar on that date have suggested it may mean the end of the world. It's guess and speculation. It is not something written down by the Mayans. I think it just signifies the end of one cycle. Perhaps the calendar they created for the cycle after got destroyed during the civil war that is guessed to have caused their demise and extinction. 

Look up information on the Inca Calendar, there is no end to it. Their system is so accurate that it only has to be adjusted once every ten thousand years compared to ours needing yearly adjustments.Maybe more of the Mayan documents still have not been uncovered.

No.There is no way to end the world in2012.But there may be some terrible happened in 2012 which may compare to end up the world.In my part i just assure you that the world will stay as long as we the man doing nothing harmful against it....

NOPE. IT'S NOT ENDING BECAUSE SOMEONE PREDITS OR A CALENDER ENDS. THAT SOMEONE IS GOD WHO CREATED AND WHO ENDS WHEN HE WANTS AND THAT'S WHY WE CALL HIM ALMIGHTY. sorry for caps
