Oh yes, cig withdrawals, I remember them well. Wow, you chose the hardest time of the year to stop smoking because the holidays can be so stressful. But, look at you, five days smoke free already. I have faith that you will make it through this, you can do it! Good Luck! CB

    You got it, Mr... (*~*)

This is really wonderful that you actually been smoke-free for 5 days. I know you can do it. I bet you feel physicially alot better already. Love and prayers, Ann

Bless your heart daren1....I know how hard it is to quit....I've been at it for 40+ years.....quit once succesfully using the "patch"....then my Mom passed and one thing after another happened to create even further stress so have now cut down......but can't quite shake it! I keep saying to myself that this too shall pass but damned if one thing does finally pass then another stressor happens....such is life!....I'm pulling for you my friend.....you can do it if you put your mind to it and stay away from other smokers first and foremost!

Dherai Dherai Dhanyabad!.. thats swallia for thank you so much...

You have my best wishes that you meet the challenge and beat the addiction! Of course choosing a time when the site and it's issues is frustrating most is probably not ideal, lol but best of luck to you!

thanks colleen that means the world to me .. it's really not as hard as i thought..

No matter what time of the year it is, what month, what day, what event, what season etc etc ...there will ALWAYS be stress.  Keep at it...don't give up when stress hits (and it will) because you will love being an ex-smoker.  You'll no doubt be a pain in the butt to those who are still "puffing" but that's okay....they're jealous!!!   Keep in mind that millions of people have quit and so can you!  YES YOU CAN!!!!!  Isn't 5 days longer than you first thought possible?

mouchas gracious ducka..the path is narrow not wide .. thats what makes it worth the walk.

Good on you ,i really hope you can achieve this horrible and costly addiction.

    daren1

bbooo yaa please keep me in your prayers...

Good for you daren1,one day at a time my brother, you can do it.I'am still a smoker after 40 years but I did give up another addiction(weed),45 days clean now, seeing that I'm out of work right now I got so tried of being worried about not being able to pass a drug test,I'am so proud of myself knowing that I can go out there and have no worries about that, and I feel so good(the best thing I've ever done)and after I saw how easy it was and the ton of money I save,I know in my heart I will never go back no matter what happen's as far as finding work goes, all the best to you daren...

Rick: I'm so glad to see that you are working on breaking the pot habit. I stopped smoking it about 19 years ago. Quitting drugs was one of my best choices I've ever made. Everything you said is so true, there's just nothing like the feeling someone experiences from the perks of becoming drug free. I'm proud for you also, Rick.

Well thank you country, you just don't know how good that makes me feel coming from someone other than myself, again thank you.

Daren, I chew Nicorette Gum. (about ten years now) I couldn’t go off Nicotine - really.  If I could have made it five days, I believe I would have been ok.  Get on here and tap away when you feel like smoking. It is a good distraction for those of us who need it for one reason or the other.

It's been about 2 months for me. It took a diagnosis of Emphysema and COPD and a heart blockage to wake me up. One day, I found myself having real difficulty breathing, I didn't even have enough wind to turn the steering wheel of a truck without breaking into a sweat. From there I ended up in the hospital for about a week. I found the nicotine patches to be of help...but, that old craving sometimes persists. I wish you the best!

Don't ever puff on another one...ever!!! I knew someone who had not had a cigarette for over 7 years, went to a family gathering, was offered a cigarette, took it, and has now been smoking again for about 10 years. He says "I could just kick myself!"

good job, daren! i know you can do it! you know all the nicotine is out of your body now. its ll in your mind now. you can win. i did. after 33 yrs of nasty stinking cigs. its been 14 since i quit. if i can do it anyone can do it. im counting on you joining all us quitters out here! good luck!

I've been sucking them down for 50 years now.
I think it's gunna be tough for me.

I don't pray Daren but I'll supply all the moral support I can.Go for it Buddy!

Coincidentally my wife is on the same mission. She is on Champix from the doctor. She's doing great & I'm proud of her.

No better time than right this minute. Why haven't you joined her? That would make it easier on her too.

The first rule is :- Do it when you are ready.I'm not ready.
With the Champix you keep smoking & gradually cut down. The smokes don't taste as good & make you a little queazy.
    I'm starting Monday.(I'm not saying which Monday)hahahaha!

Do you know I thought I was the only one who smoked here - In my day we all smoked but I could work for twelve hours without a cigarette - I am fed up and so weak - I smoke so much more since I retired. I must get the hang of the electronic cigarette I have but really should just QUIT - so much help out there.
    Tommyh

Dopey.sounds like you have all the same triggers as me.I think it's more the need for something to do with your hands than the need for constant nicotine.I'm starting on Champix (Again) next week, this time with any luck I'll toss it before it kills me.

I admire and applauad your strength, are you doing it cold turkey or using patches etc. ?
