What would you do or say if your daughter came home and said she was marrying a black man & he is not an NBA player?

In this day and age what difference would it make, the family is not marrying him, as long as she happy.

    quite agree xxx

The point of this is what?  Are you saying black men are only worth it if they play in the NBA?

Hi Colleen I love you! I love you because you have the courage to stand up to the tough question. No I am not saying that black men are only worthy if they are an NBA player. However, women are on these men like white on rice. There are many beautiful talented, creative, smart black men that are great. I have five black brothers that are fabulous and great and creative and kind. I am looking at society at large and want to get other's viewpoints. i love you for your courage related to expressing youself. You & me keep the world awake. Please respond to me as much as you can. I love you!

I will respond as needed. Again I say, you need to explain your questions better so they can not be taken the wrong way. I'm not trying to keep the world awake. I'm just me. A straight forward talker and as for taking on the tough questions, it's more like I have to ask the questions because as a moderator, I need to keep this forum safe for everyone and free of questions that can hurt a group or class of people.I appreciate that you can appreciate the person I am and love the fact I speak my mind. I just need you to be more informative in your questions while you wake up the world. Thanks.

I don't think Tabber loves me per say since she does not know me. I think it's simply my candidness she likes. ;)

It surely looks to me also, tabber, that you are trying to make a point.  What is it?

Congratulate them, and hope they have a happy marriage.

seems to me with all these black and white questions tabber is having problems with interracial issues. just what is the point here?

She needs to answer me. I do not like the direction of the questions.

Tabber is not having a problem with interracial issues. Tabber loves all people or all colors. I am happy that people are so responsive to these questions. This is an area that we need to look at be sensitive about how all people feel. My grandmother was white/Irish. My grandfather was Cherokee and African. I am a mixed person & I love it all and all people of every culture and nationality. I just wanted to see what you all think. I apprediate your viewpoints. Growth growth occurs when look at things from an unbiased viewpoint. I seek that every person can express their views and feel secure and happy and that every one else will appreciate it. My point was to get dialog going and I see that that occurred.

I'm not so sure you succeeded in the correct kind of dialog though. I think we can get dialog going better with out the shock factor included.

I would say to you...SHAKE YOUR HEAD!!! What a selfish ignorant way to think.

As long he is a good decent man and your daughter is happy, the color of his skin should not matter.

Better a loving caring black man than an abusive white guy. Welcome to the 21 century.

Wish her well no matter who she's marrying, and yes I would like to hear a answer to what Colleen asked.Love is race and gender blind.

Bob/PKB is right on this one...Your questions are ... well, I don't even want to answer them.  They keep popping up and quite frankly you should think about your presentation.  These questions come across one way (offensive) and you then answer the answers another ( in a wholly confusing manner ... 'flippity floppity' if you really want to know).

I'm just not getting it.  Sorry.

Reading your comment to carmaxable makes me question the value of your question in the manner in which you asked.  Equating the value of any person to a basketball team or any other profession distracts from the opinion you say you are seeking.  The way you posed the question reeks of prejudice.  That's not you.

Don't understand this analogy? What IS the connection?

    Aman. Thanks bulletman!
