Keep and wear your hair any way you wish, forget about what others may think, you've earned your rights by your age alone..........Dye it pink and purple if you should so wish....

Well I'am a man with long hair and I hope to never have to cut it,even at 72 years old,if I live that long,my way of saying I'm a free man and I'll wear my hair as I please..Sure at 57 I get some looks but I keep it clean and neat and in a ponytail most of the time,so I just rock on and forget anyone else,it's what I like...

At 72, wear it any way you like!!  LOL   I think that as long as you have your natural shade of grey or it's colored with a complementary color to your mature skin tone (not a harsh color such as jet black or deep red),  and it is trimmed cleanly on the ends with no splits or frizziness, you'll be beautiful!!

Wear it however you want. I think long hair looks heaps nicer on ladies anyway. My grandmother is 70 and she has long hair and she gets complimented on her looks all the time.

Wear it anyway you want to sweetheart, it's your hair, wear it the way you feel comfortable wearing it. I've seen some fine 70 plus year old ladies around.

I think it is a matter of if you feel good about your long hair, and do you get compliments. I had long hair about 5yrs ago and was told it made me look old at the time I was only 41. I loved my long hair, but after that I had it cut to shoulder length. Now I wish I would have just kept it the way I liked it..

What a shame you listened to other people, reguarding your hair. Some times people say thinge about long hair, because they are jealous. I will never cut my long hair
    .

You schould wear it the way you are most comfortable with it. Dont worrt what other people think.

I can't imagine the good people here telling you anything besides to wear your hair the way you like it.  Being one of those good people, "YOUR HAIR CAN BE ANY LENGTH AND STYLE YOU CHOOSE AS LONG AS YOU ARE PLEASED!"   If you change your style, make sure it something YOU want to do, not someone coercing you.

I am voting on the "It's your hair and do what you like" side.  I know a woman who is 75 and has beutiful long hair.  She's a stunner.

Don't worry what others think.  Only worry about what you think.

Would be a shame to cut your hair ,as it would have took you years to get it long.A lot of women would envy you ,keep it and show it off.

THIS answer rings so true to home. No matter how well I treat my hair, it just can't be really long. I would love for it to reach my waist! (and look good, of course).

You were it how you want I like long hair on all woman so you keep it long thank you for posting the question

The only opinion that matters about this is YOURS !

My only comment is that long hair with loose white gown in dim area at night is scary.

Who ARE you!? That's too funny.

Cut your hair and you are automatically old.

Well, let me be the first dissenting voice. I believe that long hair on an elderly woman is not considered stylish. It goes without saying that anyone can coiffe their hair any way they choose. The very fact that you ask the question in the first place, signifies at the very least, an assumption on your part, that elderly women should not.

The kind commentators on this site would give you the same answer if you had asked whether it was appropriate to wear a mohawk.

Cut the locks. You'll look younger and sexier.

Mohawk? Not gonna endorse that! But you make an excellent point about her even thinking about making the cut. I think I was just coming from where I would like to be with long hair, as in having it (on my head not my legs or pits or other places).

I agree with all of those who say wear your hair as you like especially if you are happy with it what difference does it make who cares what people think - although as digger comments on style - I have this dilemma recently as I heard short hair on an older women makes her look younger or does it and if this is what you want OK - or ask a good hairdresser.

im sure you will be beautiful in whatever you choose to do!

Now at 60;  I put it the why i feel the hell with them. I feel great that whats counts right, So i shave the hole dame thing off and looking good.
