                A katydid!  For real, an insect that makes a very loud screeching sound in the woods, similar to crickets but much louder.  Don't know the scientific name.

                  Katydids, it's their mating season right now. I live in the mnts of WNC and I live up high, deep in the woods/forest and with the temps cooling I have the doors and windows open and ALL I hear from outside is the call of the katydids all around the house............Have to hike the sound of TV or stereo to hear it better!!
