    A Calliope, is a musical instrument that goes back a couple centuries, it is steam powered and is used in circuses and very popular on the Southern Riverboats along the Mississippi River.  VERY LOUD and the musician can not alter its volume, its just loud.. When played, it is normally played outside for that reason and also, it generates lots of steam.. Played like an organ or piano, it has the same keys, closer resembling a pipe organ that uses compressed air..
