    why do we say bless you when someone sneezes?

    It was /is believed that when someone sneezes,  they must be blessed to hender the release of demons or better yet,  what lindilou wrote.....

    Yes, do not vote up this answer. I know the answer but can only describe it like lindi did. Wait! You say Bless You to keep the good stuff inside or something like that.....

    It was thought that sneezing released the 'devil' or evil supposedly trapped within a body ... blessing was a way of supposedly cleansing the body. I know ... wth?

    It started back in England during the black plague days,,one of the signs that you had the plague was a sneeze,,so when someone sneezed they would bless them on their way to God,as they were going to die..http://www.snopes.com/language/phrases/blessyou.asp
