In a newspaper, there is usually a section specifically for obituaries. It is called the obituary section and contains funeral notices, death notices, and those nice "articles" about the deceased. Sometimes a memorial "ad" will appear, as well as ads for the different funeral homes, crematoriums, and the like. If your newspaper has a table of contents, "obituaries" should be listed within.
In a magazine, they often come near the end or (like in PEOPLE) a general news section PEOPLE calls theirs "passages" I think..
