    what is the antonym for retroactive?

    Retroactive means that some new policy or rule (for example) is going to be effective going back in time BEFORE the policy or rule was enacted.  Personally, I'm not a big fan of retroactive.  It's like trying to close the gate after the cows are out.  Even if the retroactivity would be beneficial on the whole, I still think it's somehow "wrong".  Guess I'm saying, "You snooze, you lose" in a way.


    How about "effective immediately"?
