Question for a attorney. The pension my not be attachable directly ,but once you cash it the cash in pocket is seizable no matter where it came from. This goes for bank deposits as well . The check maybe not  but the deposit for sure can be taken . Each state has different laws and protections for both parties. Now is time to do some serious homework .The rule is if they cant find you they cant collect .Dont know if you wish to live like that. Take a look at books published by Paladin Press they have on line catalog, collectors hate that you are accessing this library They will attach your IRS refund when you file. The debt will retire after a certain period of time if not collected this according to the laws in your state. Judgments from injury accidents are exempt from  debt retirement laws . This sucks but you arent defenseless
