I have always looked the person I am talking to in the eye but I just read that in is not done in some other countries. My doctor is from India but has lived here most of his life. He sometimes looks directly at me when we are talking but mostly looks at my chest. It isn't a "man thing" I don't believe but a cultural thing I think.
Anyone know why this is done other places? I am just curious.

I look into everyone’s eyes and smile on meeting , walking along the sidewalk, in the isles of a supermarket…wherever. I know some folks dodge direct attention, some blush when they think they are noticed. Some animals get skittish when you look them in the eye. But then too I also hear peoples thoughts and critters too. You have to be very still within to know a persons or critters thoughts. I don’t consider it invasive since I would not respond distrustfully depending on their intent. Knowing a thief’s intent before an event and being noticed, requires prudence. Leaving the scene before things get dicey is a good idea. There are a lot of people who regularly communicate with others by looking in their eye, even across a distance. Being careful with your own thinking is important to being accepted by others who see and also know.
