Giving an effective speech involves training. Not everyone can just stand up and talk. I would suggest that you take a course in public speaking.

1- Get command of your subject matter.

2-Rehearse

3-Pretend your audience is stark naked

4- Don't stop to correct minor mistakes or oversights.

5- Smile at your (naked) audience.
