Find a good, patient teacher/tutor and devote several hrs a day to working problems. I am 44 yrs old, failed algebra twice in HS, took it again in college and devoted much time to it and passed with a B!!!! It can be done and you can do it if you want it enough. What a fantastic feeling of accomplishment it was and still is!!

When two numbers with powers are multiplied and if the base is the same for the two numbers, then add the powers and use it with the same base. For example,
N raised to the power of P x N raised to the power of Q = N raised to the power of P+Q
10 and the power of -4 x 10 and the power of -4 =
Here, the base is 10 and the powers are -4 and -4
10 raised to the power of -4 x 10 raised to the power of -4 = 10 raised to the power of -8
2 and the power of 3 x 2 and the power of 2 =
Here, the base is 2 and the powers are 3 and 2
2 raised to the power of 3 x 2 raised to the power of 2 = 2 raised to the power of 5
