    Thanks Colleen. Ya know, I have been around HIV and AIDS for years and have yet to learn all the fine details. I did not know this and honestly, I should have. My partner past away in 1989 and I guess since then, I have avoided stuff like this. Hmm, learn something new everyday I guess.

    It has been said that the original virus came from a monkey of some type in Africa. This was back in the early 1980's but I remember  the outbreak like it was yesterday. Honestly, who knows. I have always believed that it has always been around, just known by a different name.

    Actually, monkeys/apes is correct. AIDS as we know it is a hybrid strand of HIV1 which is a disease in primates. HIV2 came about when the disease jumped from primate to human due to humans having sex with monkeys.
