For all you lovers (or ones that think they're romantic): Why do we call the first week of marriage a "honeymoon"?

Hint:  It began 4000 years ago in Babylon.

" In Ancient (Babylon), the calender was based on the cycle of the moon. The month proceeding the wedding was called the "honey month". The (brides) father supplied his son -in - law with all the "mead>honey or (beer) he could drink."

Just want to add that the word "honeymoon" didn't enter our language until 1546, and because few peole could afford a vacation, a honeymoon didn't mean a trip away from home until the middle of the nineteenth century.

    Thanks, Panda.

After the first week the sweetness goes away gradually.  You will know what happens thereafter.

IT'S BECAUSE THE FIRST WEEK IS SWEET< THEN COMES REALITY< THEN IT'S CALLED SOURGRAPES!!!
