    I have deleted a lot of my gmails and still it keeps telling me...

    that I have exceeded my storage space.
    How do I get my gmail account working again?

      Create some folders and move stuff to the folders . Create rules that send incoming mails to the folders directly that keeps them out of the in box . You may have deleted some mails but if you still have the message it was not enough ,so delete some more . The folders will help a lot for space
