if you were a blind person would you trust a cat to guide you through the traffic?

    itsmee

A jungle cat who was my close friend could guide me through almost anything. Have you ever heard a lion roar? One roar and the bad guys would be dust.

LOL. You can't even take a cat for a walk , b/c they meander around your yard Veerrryyyyy slowly looking at every moth and you're standing there so bored and embarrassed.

    You got me there, cucumber.

"Every one needs a dog to adore him, and a cat to bring him back to reality."

Cats, without a doubt are twice as smart.

    itsmee

Cats are smart and sensitive to owners moods.
Dogs probably bring more bouncy joy (If that's what you want)
Me: I like a smart cat - spooky smart. Warm, Furry, Purry, Soft Fur, Fluffy.
    Chiangmai

    Totally agree, itsmee.

I think they are equal, dogs are good at tricks and cats are very clever as they are very independant and can work out situations where dogs cant so this why I say that they are equal

As far as intellegence go, i would say they are on par with each other.

    melandrupert

    quite agree bullitman lol

They both have us feeding, bathing and buying them treats.. . I think we are being played... LOL

I love cats, but dogs are definately the smarter of the 2.

How come I knew this would be your answer! LOL

I used to have a cat that gently  tapped me on the face every morning to wake me up. Dogs & cats are both very clever in different ways.

    Dollybird

My cat gets into bed room window, just above head of bed, and meows, till I wake up, to let her out. I agree with Maz. Animals are all smart in their own way.

Chickens. Chickens are smarter than dogs and cats heh, heh. chickens and other birds are third down in intelligence from man. They have a thinking process and they also have empathy with each other. Not in a flock, but in a small group.

    bulletman

eggie, your chickens are an exception because of the induction by the aliens lol.
    Tommyh

Welcome back Eggy! Are you going to change back to Chook at random just to trick us?LOL

cats because you dont need to walk them.and they clean them selfs they know how to run up trees.

    itsmee

Kimba, I do like your mind!
    mycatsmom

cats are great, but they don't have intellectual reasoning the way dogs do. And they don't show as much emotion, the way dogs do . Dogs try to please their person. Cats don't give a s----
    Dollybird

They also make hole in earth, for toilet, and close it in when finished.
Well you know my answer, DOGS RULE<. Ever seen a cadaver cat, seeing eye cat, guard cat, police cat, truffle cat, snow search cat, hearing aid cat, body search cat, epileptic fit warning cat.

Come on people get with the program, cats are probably ok for cat lovers who want something to feed and have a purr in thanks. Or maybe an endangered bird species on the door mat.

Seriously, when was the last time a police man said"stay still or I will release the cat".

With regards working out problems I had a Rottweiler at puppy school and on "graduation" day the trainer gave my pups lead to the trainers adult Rottie who took my pup for a walk with the lead in his mouth. My pup went to one side of a bush the adult dog to the other, the adult dog dropped the lead walked around the bush picked up the lead and walked on. Let`s see a cat do that.

    dogs, anyway

my dog was smart enough to go do dogone u!

    Dollybird

What is, do dogone u. ?

Even tho' I have cats, I will tell you that dogs are definately smarter. The dumbest dog makes my middle cat, Molly look like Eienstein.  Dogs have the ability to do deductive reasoning; and not many cats show that. A dog is one of the few animals that will follow your finger to the direction that you're pointing in. If you point to something on the floor, that you want a cat to eat, she/ he doesn't get it, but a dog will.

    lambshank

maybe she doesnt care enough to "get it) Ill bet if it was something the cat wanted, it would soon pay attention

we once had a cat that would lick your eyelids in the morning. and when the alarm clock went off he`d run to the bedroom. silly old cat. but we loved him.

My opinion ..... dogs hands down, thank you very much !

    Cats of course`They have Staff`

Dogs are the leaders of the planet. If you see two life forms, one of them’s making a poop, the other one’s carrying it for him, who would you assume is in charge

    Depends on the breeds

    mycatsmom

Yeah---don't buy a Schnauzer. They're one dumb dog. My brother had two of them, but not at the same time. His frined said, If you had 5 Schnauzers put together, you'd still have one dumb dog.

    pretty much cats.

I had a red cattle dog bitch for 17 years.very smart. It took about 2 minutes to teach her anything.

My daughter had 3 cats.the only thing they ever learned was dinner time.

    Chiangmai

    hahahahaha....Smart cats... They trained YOU!

has to be cats, they can entertain themselves, use you when they want to, let you pat them when they want to, ignore you  when they choose, can survive without you but refuse to be ignored (of course if it suits them)

difficult............on balance probably dogs but im now going to run and hide in case my cat reads this!!!!!!!!

cats can open doors watch bad dog! on animal planet
