    comparison between different units, as measured by different methodology is difficult if not impossible.  You can't convert lumens to candlepower and vice versa.

         A lumen is a one foot candle of light falling on a 1 foot square area 1 foot away.  Candle power is how much light the light source produces.  Although there's no direct conversion between candle power and lumens, you can still get a good approximation.


       1.  Find out the lumens for the light source; this should be on the manufacturer's box.  If not, then use a light meter to find the lumens.


       2.  Divide the lumens by .07958.  For example, 100 lumens equals 1257 candle power.
